Well with the Heart of Thorn expansion just around the corner I am curious on what stat builds would be beneficial to accommodate Ranger to Druid. This includes armor, accessories, runes, and weapons. eg) Exotic->Ascended

To be honest I was rather surprised that this profession will have an assortment of heal based attacks. I was expecting Guardian to be more defensive/heal related than the Ranger. And since I really did not want to give up my main and start from scratch with a different profession and be irritable throughout the new content I rather learn on how to utilize and work with new changes that will be implemented. I would prefer people, who are reading and about to reply, not place one-liner responses but with an explanation of why this set up. In many games I’ve learned when constructing builds there is always a negotiation of stats; meaning focus on one or two and lose out on the latter. eg) high defensive builds will usually lack in the offensive department and vice versa.

I don’t have any precise build draft yet, but I could imagine Zealot’s gear (Power, Precision, Healing Power) to finally be of some use. That way you would still be able to deal damage while being able to excel in healing. Apparently there is also a “Forsaken” stat combination (Power, Toughness, Healing Power), but I’ve never seen it before.

Unlike a lot of people, I’m very excited about the Druid and it adding a versatile role to the ranger.

I also believe, that even without healing power, the druid could heal quite well. On top of that, the Druid not only grants good healing, but also a lot of utility and control.

This is why I’m very likely to keep using my full zerker set. I -may- swap in zealot’s weapons and armor which amounts to around 500hp if coefficients are good enough, but I doubt it. Becoming a waterfield with astral4 should be plenty of burst healing with competent teammates.

I want to thank those that have responded with their replies and explanations.

After playing around in this Beta event Celestial is a lack luster in itself….nothing but a plateau gain. Zerker set is ideal to pump out a decent amount of dps I’ll probably end up making two Ascended sets once the expansion is fully released. One being a Knight set and the other being Zealot. This will also include updating or forming a new Longbow, Staff, and Greatsword since I see myself using more often while playing on my main. The Shortbow, One-handed Axe, One-handed Sword, Torch, Warhorn weapons I’ll probably will end up placing on the back burner. And on the plus side with creating new items if I find one that I don’t care for I can always share it among my other Med. Armor wearing alts or keep it in the Bank for a rainy day.

Cleric/Nomad/Apothecary/Magi.

Druid is a healer, period.
It’s also designed for raid.

It maybe the new only source for main healing in this new content, high end raiding, but I refuse to just go basic cookie cutter and stand in the corner and heal people just to have it easy. This is me waving my middle finger in the air to that. As I did in Aion on my Chanter I’ve worked with various builds and ultimately learned to alternate between dps and to heal. It’s not that different from this game or any other typical MMO. People are mad and upset because what was known as a solid dps got a monkey wrench thrown at it because it’s not what they are use to playing. The mentality of “Druid is a Healer, period” and nothing else just goes to show how mundane and stereotypical people can be about “Heal/Dps hybrid-type Classes”.

The Druid also has some synergy with self-sustaining condi builds. Has anyone tried such a build? I ran one in PvP and it was okay, but I’m not the best pvper or theorycrafter to tell if its actually viable. The sigils provide some good aoe effects and the divine form allos for some solid heals, which could keep you up as you keep close to an enemy with a sword/axe/torch build. Thoughts?

To my knowledge there isn’t a ton of reason to stack healing power just yet. The scaling is apparently poor for the heals so it’s better to go zerker or tank. It’s a bit hard to build around. The staff is a ranged weapon but the utilities are all melee range, the elite skill has a similar problem. Also, I don’t really think the staff is all that impressive in damage. So maybe you should build tanky. Grab survival and dire stats.
