Dry Top area, any way to get around it?

Is there any way to get beyond the Dry Top area without performing all of those gymnastics’ jumps and gliding maneuvers? To get to other areas of the map?
My severe arthritis in fingers/hands is keeping me from being able to do a lot of those, especially the one where you get the jump boon and have to jump up a bamboo ladder 3 or 4 or 5 tiers up to get above the clouds? My jump boon timer runs out at the 2nd jump and I can’t get further. I’ll never make it is my point, ever.
Will this keep me from being able to get to the Auric Basin area, or some area where my Ranger can get a good strong pet. ??
You dont need to pass through drytop to get to the silverwastes or hot. In fact, i always thought it was a dead end, anyway. You can get into the silverwastes through the bandit fort, and into the maguuman heart through the yellow camp in the silverwastes.
Is there a specific spot in the drytop you need to be, for like LS2, i am willing to go there so you can use a teleport to friend. Sadly, using wind, sun and lightning is an essential part of the story. Theres a chapter where you climb the wreckage and you simply cannot get around it if you want to progress the LS2 chapter there.
Ps, if you run out of time of the sun,wind,lightning-charges. You can pick up several crystals, the time of charge goes up

One thing you can do for getting to the top of the JP (not in the story instance, though) is to do the Rifts stuff in northeast Fields of Ruin. Setting XI on the rift stabilizer will send you to the pole above the diving pool. Turn around and glide down to the plateau to get credit for the JP as well as a chest to open.
However, DT is highly self contained. I don’t think anything in it is needed to do anything else in the game except for progressing the story. You get to Verdant Brink (first HoT map) by either going to a guild hall that is Lost Precipice and walking out the door, or by doing the HoT intro story once, which is in SW and takes no platforming at all. Well maybe a little bit once in VB’s part of the story, but nothing tricky. Just some steps to climb and narrow bridges to fight on.
If you’re on NA I can bring a mesmer along to help in and out of story. Just give me an idea of the times you’re available (I’m mostly available mid/late afternoon to late evening Eastern, depending on the day, but if I don’t know to look for you I might not be in game at all due to gym, RP, books to read …. ).

Wow, you guys are amazing in the advice and facts, but really for offering to be there physically for me inside the game and help out. Thanks a lot!
Ok, so it’s not necessary area, and yes I already had picked up a lot of the crystals, had no idea what they did though. So, I will find my around through the other areas and I get it that I can use the trinket thing of ‘move to where my partner location is’ thingy. That will probably be what I use to be honest
If either of you guys are in a guild, let me know and I’ll join one and that way I’ll be able to ask you when I am in need. I’m U.S. west coast and am on from 6 am to 9 pm basically on and off, being retired.
What I was looking for is a ‘bristleback’ pet if I recall correctly in reviewing pets in the forum. A high Dps pet.
Right now I have a lynx and a River Drake, the Drake seems really tuff, never dies etc.
thanks again guys

I just checked, I have Jungle Stalker and River Drake.
I just bought the Heart of Thorns upgrade and new level 80 after only being at level 20 and playing the game for 2 days, so I don’t know much terminology yet or how things work much, soooo…
Sounds like you’re on when I’m on (and even more than I am, goodness, I am also retired but I tend to sleep in >.> ).
There are tons of pets you can get in the core lands, actually. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_pet_locations will tell you where to find them — just need a green-named Juvenile X, walk up to it and press F.
In the HoT maps, you can just get to the juvenile bristleback in eastern Auric Basin, and to the tiger in Dragon’s Stand (just don’t tangle with mordrem on the way if you’re going in a non-meta map). The smokescale needs a certain amount of lane progression, I forget if it’s Nuhoch or Ogre. One of the wyverns can just be nabbed whenever, I think, the other needs you to get to the second set of events in DS, mid lane.
I may have some time tomorrow to lead you around to the spots (at least the ones that don’t need me to spend 2 hours in a meta chain), but Monday will be more free for me. Please add me to your Friends. In game, open your social panel and type Donari.5237 into the search list. Then you can hail me when you see me on line.
If you’re able to do voice chat that may be helpful as well. I like Discord best though I don’t own a channel yet. It’s not crucial, though.
If you are looking for the Bristleback Pet you need to be in the Bristleback Glave in the Auric Basin.
As for the crystals:
Sun: high speed dash (lets you bypass sandfall and quicksand)
Lightning: lets you close a gap by making a leap through the air
Wind: A very high jump with no falling damage (as long as the fall is not longer than 3 times the initial jump)
Protip: when you dash using the Sun, you press Wind while dashing you make a jump with the forward momentum of the sun dash. takes some practice but lets you close big gaps fast.

If you have only been playing Guild Wars for 2 days, I would recommend starting a new character and leveling from 1 to 80 naturally in the Core Tyria maps before attempting Dry Top, The Silverwastes or any Heart of Thorns maps.
There’s no rush to get to L80 content; it could be disheartening to attempt those maps with little knowledge of how the game really plays, and the journey to L80 is one of the best things Guild Wars 2 has to offer.
For a great resource, consider the Wiki (link above).
Welcome to Tyria, and good luck.
This is a solid point from Cedo, and one I normally make as well. Targeted pet exploration may have its place, however. At least for those that merely require you getting to where the pet sits and waits to be charmed.
I’ll be equally happy to help you figure out core Tyria, but I know almost nothing about good ways to play Ranger/Druid as it never clicked for me and I only have one of them, with not much time sunk into figuring out the tips and tricks. Someone else would need to help you there.

Thanks guys. I’ll look for you Donari, thanks. And yes even though the Bristleback would be nice to try out, for present I am very happy with my River Drake over the Brown Bear I had and the Jungle Stalker came with the L80 upgrade so I haven’t test him out much.
Yes, I have 4 other characters besides the L80 Ranger/human, Human Revenant, Human Warrior and Human Mesmer, and the 5th will be a Human Guardian. I did try the Charr Norn at first but deleted it. I find I want to start in the same ‘familiar’ area for all characters. And these other 4 characters I am taking from 1-80. So I will learn from those. Each day I play the Ranger and another character., So in each week I’ll have each character advanced about 2 to 5 levels, depending on levels and time to reach each.
Why I decided on Ranger is that I prefer long range and quick shots. With short bow there is (5) an aoe rain of arrows that does decent dmg and long bow (2) that shoots 5 arrows in quick succession and same dmg it looks like. Then if I have to get toe to toe using a sword, mace or axe is good, or the Greatsword. I hate when the centaurians fight and then run at the end, so bow is great for stopping them without running after them. So, yeah, I will stick to this plan and I’ll see the beautiful storyline. I am enjoying the heck out of it already.
Well, if I type more I won’t be able to play, cramping now… so thanks and bye :0
oh and yes, eastern Auric Basin is the area I was heading for for the bristleback, read that in a forum tip.

Sorry, my in game nick is:
Mesmoomu, Lev 2 Mesmer
Lisaisa, Lev 80 Ranger
Revoolu, Lev 9 Revenant
Iamthat, Lev 10 Warrior
Another way to skip certain things you are physically incapable of doing is either finding a nice mesmer or paying one to portal you. You can reach the end of jumping puzzles and other places like this without having to do anything.
Even though I am physically capable, mentally is another story, I have been known to pay a mes for certain things that I am just not willing to stress over.
(the LFG tool is great for this)
