Yo Arenanet love your game, but it isn’t strong enough to nerf a complete aspect of it. My guild does everything there is, but twice a week we run AC & CoF, and now you’re saying we will get LESS rewards? How can you get less from AC? We walk out of there with 32 blue items and a slice of garlic bread!
Fractals are cool, but now you’re saying we HAVE to run fracs. How mighty white of you.
(or do you really think your pve content will hold us for longer than two weeks?)
You get out of AC with 1.76 gold, equivalent of 50 silver in token + 32 blues and a slice of garlic bread. In the end you can do around 2.5-3 gold in a path that take 10-15min. AC is one of the most profitable content in the game right now, so you just sound silly with the ‘’How can you get less from AC? ’’
That said. It’s all depend on how they do it.
1) It would be ok to reduce the bonus chest to 50 Silver. That would make 76 with the normal chest, 1.25 with the tokens. That mean around 5-6 gold per hours with the loots, which seem fair. Anything below that would be terrible.
2) With all the information they have about the speed we can complete dungeon, they should make reward vary depending on the speed we can complete them. If AC give you 76 silvers, Arah path 4 should give you around 2.5-3 gold.
Why would you HAVE to do fractal? What are you talking about. What on earth would force you to do fractal??
Even though I don’t really agree with OP, I do feel like anet wants us to just forget about dungeons.
Close to NO new dungeon content since release and now after 3 years they’re going to nerf the rewards as well?
It’s pretty much slapping us in the face saying “no u don’t get new dungeons, now we’ll give you less reasons to do them too.”
But it all depends on how they do it i guess… gotta wait and see…

Dungeons will be inexistant moving forward, I’m 90% sure of that. If they want to introduce a repeatable instance, they’ll make a fractal for it. You should just accept that there’s no return to dungeons in this MMO (oh the irony).

What about the other paths of dungeons?? Most of them only award 1 gold and most take longer than ac how are you going to further reduce the reward for those, why don’t hey just leave dungeons alone. If a couple of gold say maybe 10 gold a day from dungeons really such a big impact on the game. Take a look at silver waste 10g/hour doing nothing but running around in circles.
Just remove explorable, and keep story for those wishing to do so.
And then when 2.6% of the game population applauds your work on level 74 Fracs, the devs can pat themselves on the back and say job well done.
Also, add portals to each of the dungeons in our guild halls, so we don’t lose more money running for the bus.

Well, most path are around the same amount of time as AC. So IMO 50 silver instead of 1 gold would be good for most of them. I would give 75 Silver for both CoF path 3 and SE path 2 (maybe keep the one gold if they won’t gonna change the slow walking NPC portion of the path). For arah it could be 1 Gold for all first 3 paths and 2-3 gold for path 4. For Aetherpath, I guess I would leave the reward as it is now.
IMO, those would be good nerf. Dungeon is a bit too good to farm gold right now. But you are totally right. I said it before and I’ll continue to said it. Silverwaste should be around 5 gold per hour, not 10.
We agree to disagree then Thad. NBD, but even a 100 gold is nothing in this game. If you think 1g is ample, then you my friend are a better man than me.
Go to the Black Lion today, and buy 600 armored scales, an Aetherblade hammer skin, and let’s say Shadow Abyss dye? What’s that run you?
Now put that 1g in your pocket and save up.
I understand a dungeon is what 12 minutes of cooridination? But just leave the flimsy rewards as is.

Dungeons will simply become what they were originally: a source of loot and tokens.
Back in the first year of launch (incidentally the golden age of GW2 to many), before ascended armor and the Silverwastes, dungeon rewards consisted of tokens and a measly end-reward of a few silver, both subject to Diminishing Returns. However, there was also silver rewards dropped from bosses. This mostly wasn’t very noticeable as a significant reward-for-time, but in one path, CoF 1, you could get a variable amount of about 50s to 1G for each run from boss rewards for ~9 minutes of investment. Back then, the gold to gems ratio was about 2-5G = 100 gems and precursors were selling for about 200 gold.
In the regular LFGs for most dungeons (on a third party website back then as the LFG tool didn’t exist), you would see messages like, “Looking for accomplices to murder Tazza” and “NO NO NO! NO NO NO!” Y’know, joy and humor. But CoF1 was an anomaly. That was where you’d see LFGs like LV80 BERSERKER ONLY PING GEAR ON JOIN NO NOOBS. Inevitably, the person who started such a group was a player with no idea about dungeon or class mechanics who simply wanted to farm gold.

In the August 6 patch of 2013, Anet nerfed all dungeons by removing the boss rewards, specifically to punish this one path which people were repeating endlessly to farm gold. To compensate, they added the solid, non-repeatable gold reward at the end.
CoF 1’s gold farmers then spread throughout multiple dungeons, trying to farm the slightly less-fast dunegons (like AC). This proliferation pretty much destroyed the small community of players who merely played dungeons to have fun and perhaps grind for free then-end-game exotic gear (now rendered almost irrelevant by ascended), rather than for gold, as they were assaulted by waves of confused gold farmers insistent on a FAST RUN EXPERIENCED BERSERKER ONLY NO RANGERS NO NECRO mentality exclusive previously only to CoF1.
So, to all the people complaining about this, I wonder how many realize it’s a not so much an unforgivable nerf as a correction for a mistake that never should have been made.
But people saying dungeons are a farm how can that be? You can only do it once a day and that’s all, so what if you can get 1.5 gold in 15 mins? You can do it only once a day.. It’s not like people spend the whole day repeating dungeons to reap the easy rewards. I understand why they did it before with the cof nerf because people just kept farming cof over and over again that is a farm. Doing dungeons once a day for above average rewards is not a farm it’s more of a routine.

It take 3-5 hours to do most of the dungeons. It’s not a 24/24 hours farm, but it’s a farm of dungeon’’s’’.
Well they can do what they want with it I don’t really care, because personally I nvr did dungeons just for the gold I just did it to play something after finishing all my fractal dailies. If they can provide more content to do which is equally as rewarding I don’t mind. However I still feel that 30 gold a day spending 5 hours assuming you’re a casual and just pug everything is not that big of a deal that requires a nerf. I mean at least nerf silver waste before needing dungeons… If you wanna bring down the iron fist you gotta bring it down all the way! Starting at the TOP where it hurts the most. With their reasoning now I can’t help but feel like they have a personal grudge against dungeons lol. But whatever as Long as I get my fractal skins from that golem merchant they promised.
