Dungeons and Raids
“As Mo said, a big focus for us is developing really challenging content for you to overcome. So we’re doing to be developing new types of content experiences that you’ll find in the jungle. New challenges for you, new challenges for you and your groups and your guild.”

Some people call challenging group and guild content “raids and dungeons”. :-)
Not long time ago there was a CDI about guild halls, and now we will get guild halls.
Not long time ago there was a CDI about raids and guild raids, …. and maybe we will get them also.
I think, it is not from the table for HoT. :-)
Greetings.
Yep. But they should have said that more clearly. Probably most of the players want new dungeons and not WvW-maps or PvP-maps. The hype would be so much bigger if they announce dungeons or raids.
My opinion is that we will get dungeons or guildraids or both – but we cannot be sure till we get more information or beta =P
The skepticism comes from the fact that they announced they werent working on any dungeons a while back. And that raids could easily be open world bosses. Im remaining hopeful. But i dont blame others for having doubts.

Maybe they do not use the word “raids” because they do not want to raise false hopes (or false fear).
As I remember the “raid CDI”, a lot of players wanted raids not to be exact copies of raids as they where in those “other MMOs” but that they shoud fit within GW2 principles.

I have to quote myself. The “definition” from A-Net (Chris Whiteside) for raid-content is: “instanced co-operative group based challenging content”
(from https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/cdi/CDI-Guilds-Raiding/4522281
It seems like they used the same wording for raids. :-)
Greetings.
Yea… really looking forward to seeing if they bring in new dungeons and guild raids… open world content is not a raid to me.. if anyone can join and grief or if anyone can join and trivialize the content (current state of guild missions) then it’s not what I want. I really want mid size instance based content that my guild can run so when we complete it.. we complete it because of the effort we put in, not the effort put in by the 5 other guilds that ran it with us… preventing us from doing anything.
I’m sure they will add a few dungeons. Don’t expect anything mind-blowing though. Most people will just skip all the mobs anyways.
I think the dungeon runners would only be satisfied with an elite dungeon like Domain of anguish. And the ability to run that in harder modes for unique loot.
Well, they do say “challenging group content”. on the release page so far under the Heart of Maguuma tag.
With Raid CDI, people wanting dungeons (and sure as hell them knowing people want those) I’m willing to bet they will at least make some sort of …eh.. thing that would fit along those lines.
ArenaNet is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.

Well, that’s you. I really don’t care about dungeons or raids and new WvW map and features are very very very welcome for me.

It sounds like they plan to use the mastery system to gate difficult content in the open world in such a way as to limit access to the hardest areas until people have proven they are ready.
So, as an example, a cave with an extremely complex and difficult enemy can only be entered by those players who have beaten the challenges leading up to that area and unlocked the necessary masteries.
I know this doesnt address the question of dungeons or raids, but it is what I think they meant when they talked about difficult group content during the launch announcement.
As far as instanced dungeons and raids, I would love to see very difficult dungeons, but if they implement raids, I do NOT want to see traditional MMO style raids that set arbitrary limits on who can enter and force guilds to choose between qualified members (ie, source of unnecessary drama).

Some people consider the Living World to be challenging group content.
Might as well be another world boss, that’s also ‘challenging group content’. In any shot in the video, there were no more than 3 players for any ‘fight’, so there is no way to judge if they’ll be big or small fights yet. We’ll see! Hoping that the fight with Mordremoth is a challenging dungeon like Arah
There’s a standard already set for challenging raid-style content, I wouldn’t hope for instanced raids.
Dungeons I’m more hopeful for, they’re useful for storytelling as well.
