I can go ahead and confirm one of those things for you. There are no new weapons in HoT.

What you see is not necessarily what you get when it comes to hype trailers in general. It has been confirmed in interviews that we are not getting land spears or any actual new weapons in HoT.

well i already pre-ordered the x-pac in my local gamestop. They already got it in their lists…but they know like we do nothing about the release date, thats everything i can say about it.

well.. the revenant´s staff skills look (so far) pretty darn melee centric…so yea.. this might be something like a spear or a halberd (or atleast a pole weapon) in combat.

well i was buying gem cards last week and the salesman was like “dude i got the x-pac already in the system here, wanna pre-order for 5 bucks?” So yea i did of course right away, now i dont need to worry about it anymore. They got no date or price in the system yet, they only know its gonna get released.

None of us know what schedule Arenanet is operating on. If you are looking to us for comfort or confirmation, i am sorry to tell you none of us know any more than you do.

All we know is the game could be out between now and the end of times.

I don’t understand why some players think others care if they are going to keep playing or purchase the expansion. If you are bored go play something else until HoT is released.

So our dear ANet, who is rather known for not revealing much to their players, hasn’t said as much as you like about the x-pac which tells you they are way behind on releasing it?
I’m still thinking August for the 3 year anniversary myself, but the point is, just because they aren’t saying much doesn’t mean not much is getting done.
They could have the pve beta ready to go right after pvp beta is done and have the thing shipped by June. Unlikely? yes, but we really don’t know anything.

from my experience they don’t show information until they are ready, so we have still enough time, it’s just an expansion, the fact that we don’t have detailed information about something doesn’t mean it’s not in final stages of development… I still believe it could be released on the GW2 anniversary in August

Let’s break it down some, we have 9 specializations to be revealed, now they could do 1 per week, or 3 per week, which means it’s either 3 weeks of news or 9 weeks. We still have Guild Hall news to be revealed, so that’s another week. Now we’re up to 4 or 10 weeks, that’s either one month or 2 and half months, which is either June…or August. That still leaves time for Beta’s, which are going to take place while they’re releasing information, and not after all information is released(i.e. they already had the first stress test and now the Public PvP Beta for Stronghold). You do the rest of the math yourselves, but that’s really all they have left to tell us about, other than maybe more info on the Revenant, but that can always wait until it’s ready for release.

First, the trailer is a cinematic showing NPCs, not player characters. And it was most likely created by the art team. The art team on numberous occasions have created images of things we never got in game. That’s not to say it is right, but it is a fact.

Second, a trailer is not a menu. It is a teaser of things to come. It is not a list of features or items we can expect to see in the expansion.

Third, just because we are not getting a new weapon in HoT, doesn’t mean we will not get a new weapon in the near future. For all we know, we may well get a new weapon in a LS episode further down the road.

I do agree that showing something we wont get in a trailer for HoT is a bit off, but we have not had any trailers for HoT yet. Technically, we have only had a trailer looking at parts of the future story. A lot of what we saw may well be in HoT, but some of it could just as easily be added in future LS episodes. And as far as I am aware, none of the HoT specific videos have shown weapons we will not get in the expansion.

About the trailer and the ‘spear’; I think it’s just a revenant using a staff. The revenant staff will be a martial weapon.

NCsoft plans the release for 2H15. A release in 2016 would weaken the position of the company against Nexon. Therefore the release will be this year – Dec 31st latest. The precise release date will be dictated by the beta tests and their success. The more players complain about the betas the later the release of Hot will be.

Anet announced all major features of HoT.
Technically they are:
- 1 new region (we have 5 in original)
- 14 new trait lines for 9 specializations and Revenant (witch is worth of 2.8 vanilla classes)
- 8 new weapon skill sets as well as Revenant skill sets.
- new story totally about dragon (there is a more work done for personal story before lvl 30 than dragon part in original)
- new PvP mode witch could be done 1-2 years ago for free instead of LS
- new re-skinned WvW
- Guild Hall maps witch could be done 3 years ago for free instead of LS
- mastery system, with seems to be the same trash as GW1 PvE skills. (I maybe totally wrong)

Looks to me like exact 1/5 of content that had GW2 on release. They have done original in 5 years. I suppose it should take less than 1 year for expansion because they don’t need to do new game engine. But most likely all content work done by other team, so anyway we have 1 year for development. So it is early 2016.

Anyway HoT price would be more than 1/5… lol I hope I’m wrong and they would do more stuff. But my kitten analyse seems to be quite true.

No Anet wouldn’t this because of living story people will leave if they don’t get new story/ new content for a whole year releasing it in 2016 and not 2015 would be a big mistake for Anet and they will not risk it.

November seems like a month Anet would release the expansion. Not sure why but it’s just a feeling I have. Hopefully I’m wrong.

GW2 launched public beta testing in Mar/Apr 2012 and the game launched in August. HoT public beta testing begain Mar/Apr 2015 and the expac launched in ____.

Play another game til HoT. I login for my reward and Tequatl once a day as I’m pretty maxed out in this game, awhile ago.

Keeping it in the NCsoft family I play W* for everything GW is not. Both great games.

the point of the OP is guessing based on known factors when it will come out.
right now i would say july earliest, but i wouldnt be surprised to see it at end of 2015, based on anet rarely being ahead of schedule

That doesn’t make any sense. What do you base that on?

They did the first stress test for HoT was approximately the same timeframe on the calendar that the original stress test for the games original release. The game released in August. So what is this process you are “claiming” that suggest it would be 2016 when the precedence they set, suggest something more like August, 2015?

“The bad News Bears” implies they are making the heroic comeback, yet they lose. Did you make internet accusations for the production company of that movie if you jumped to conclusions there and were let down. Some folks really have difficulty accepting responsibility for their own reaction.

Again, how do you disingenuously claim it won’t be in there as you saw it? It is likely that exact cut scene will be in the game and that NPC in the video will have that exact weapon in the game. None of that changes anything. Anet never promised or even suggested it would be in there. You jumped to a conclusion, and are refusing to accept responsibility for it, and laying blame.

Hmmm i didnt think of it of being sold as a physical box.
if it does take 4 months to set that up, august would be earliest, but makes august seem unlikely.

ehhh boxes dont work too well for expansions, unless they are packaged with the orginial. Nothing makes someone put down a box quicker(impulse buy) than learning they need to buy something else to get it to work.
