Elementalist is my main character I play as. I’ve liked the elementalist since guild wars 1. Guild Wars was my first time not playing a healer but a DPS instead. Had great fun with the elementalist.

Complaints I have had are:
1) The elementalist was nerfed in the first year
2) Ranger can always have their pet out…necro can have minions follow forever…however elementals expire. I would like my elemental to follow until I choose to unsummon.
3) Air elemental use to fly and shoot bolts…now it’s a crawling scorpion. I wish they would go back to the old elemental.

now with Heart of Thorns you have awesome new weapons like a great sword for a nerco and the long bow for the guardian….

What does the elementalist get? a warhorn of all things.
Why not a pistol, rifle, short bow, long bow, sword, axe, great sword, shield?
Warhorn, torch, and hammer I personally am least interested in seeing for an ele.

I think a sword with elemental attacks would be cool, but since they are squishy (glass cannons) a ranged weapon makes more senses with elemental ammo. I think a longbow or rifle would have made for a better choice.

So why a horn? Why Arenanet? Why do you hate Elementalist now?

It’s not that they hate them, it’s that they just really missed the mark here. I think they got caught up in the numbers, and forgot why an Ele can be fun. We can only hope they learn from it and do better next time.

When I saw the title, I was hoping for a good thread with constructive feedback. Unfortunately this thread doesn’t touch the real problems of the tempest at all. Instead it is just a pointless rant.

I also have to ask. What kind of nerfs did eles get recently? How are minions relevant at all to eles? If you want an awesome minion experience roll a profession that is based on that premise.

Maybe you should roll a ranger if you want a permanent companion. I am sure that you will enjoy losing tons of damage to its bad ai.

I believe some people suggested elemental minions as a defining trait of an elite specialization. Which, admittedly, could be cool, but I’d like it to be paired with something seen as a symbol of forceful authority, such as a sword or greatsword.

That could happen eventually as an elite spec, but it’s obviously not the premise of the tempest. Though I am curious about what would happen to the elemental glyphs if such a spec was ever implemented.

I’d say the new minion summons would each be for one element, so that the old summoning glyphs retain the special trait of adapting to your current attunement.

They have not been nerfed recently, yes it’s mostly a rant from changes to the ele since launch. Pointless? eh could be. Minions are only relevant IMO as to the elemantals you can summon. You have lesser and greater ones, but they are on a timer and vanish on there own. I guess this is no different then the mesmer’s clones vanishing after the enemy dies.

What do you find wrong with the tempest so far? I am just ranting on changes for the ele on a whole and how I was let down by what I have been reading.

The overload skills don’t sound bad, I have mixed feelings on the shouts. The warhorn is my biggest complaint right now as I was looking forward to new weapon skills.

Thing is….Eles in general are already a very powerful class..soo..yeah..

“Might makes Right” – the ability to commit an act is sufficient justification to do it.

Ele’s are the most powerful class in the game. They’re the single strongest in every single area of the game, 2nd in some areas but never below. There isn’t much you can do to a class that is almost virtually perfect.

Tempest, is amazing with a fresh air build. Total glass cannon though. Absolute total glass cannon.

There is a huge mega gigantic discrepancy between elites. Tempest follows the path of Chronomancer in giving a specialization in what the class is already really powerful in instead of going reaper and Dragon hunter and going with something they’re weak in. Why? Elementalists are weak in nothing. There isn’t anything the class is weak or struggling with. Mesmers, I’m still kittened off with chrono. I wanted dps not more specialized unique support options. I’m absolutely tired with only being taken for specialized support options. They got the lowest damage in the game, and chrono makes it worse.

Disclaimer: Under no circumstance should you take this seriously.
