Hey there.

First off I realy enjoy my time in Ember Bay. I’ve got myself a Ticket for Lava-Lobby and when I have nothing to do I hop off and do some events.

The issue is the scale of the events is far from evened out. Some of these Champions have an insane amount of health and take several minutes to take down, even for groups of optimal scaling; while others die in seconds even when Soloed.
Can we give this poor Molten Dominator a little more health so he has at least a chance against a single player? His fight poses absolutely no threat at the moment. I feel bad for this guy.
On the same note can we bring the Armor of the Champion Jade Construct down by just a touch? I know that it is meant to be resilient to physical assailance but the same 5 man group that murders the Dominator in Seconds struggles with the timer on the Construct.

That would be cool. :-)

The only problem I’ve had with the Pyro Jade is that occasionally not enough rocks spawn to take out its shield, but that’s never actually been a problem. The fight it very easy to control, so I always jump in solo and do it with whoever shows up. I can’t recall ever doing it with less than 5, but there’s always 5+ minutes left with smaller numbers. I just did it with 7 people for example with ~7 minutes left. As a zerker ele, I almost always end up tanking it in melee, which makes it far easier to deal with. The trick with jade bows, which the pyro is based on, is that they aggro on the top damage dealer.

Dominator goes to shield phase in a few seconds, the broodmother is a sack of HP that bites without any skills at all, the Sloth Queen can be auto-attacked to death as she doesn’t seem to do anything or fight back, the Wurm is similar to the Sloth Queen boring and without any skills worth mentioning.

The pyro jade bow has too much HP but otherwise is not interesting at all, just repeat the same thing over and over and try not to fall asleep.

The Karka Queen is the only Ember Bay boss that is interesting to fight.

Sloth Queen does have some skills but they are ignorable when there’s a lot of players. I don’t think the scaling was balanced with the possibility of having 20+ players attacking her.

Wurm is probably the most boring to me as it’s just a timed defend event. There’s absolutely no interaction with the boss. I believe I read somewhere that we could range it but I haven’t personally tried.

You can range AND melee the wurm but you only do like 1/10th your normal damage so probably not worth it. The best you can do to speed up that fight is to apply vuln to the boss and buff the golem.

When you are attacking from near the edge of the lava(I only have 900 range) it will slam its head down on/near you. After it does that you can melee it for a while before it switches back. The hitbox might be weird enough that you can melee it the whole time. I haven’t checked.

I haven’t seen her do anything even when there were about 7 players hitting her. She was just casually following a slubling (which we have no way of “saving” if she tried to eat it – add a breakbar at least!)

Maybe there’s a bug then that prevents her from using attacks sometimes. It was definitely before the food delivery timer ran out where she supposedly gets additional skills. Perhaps that could be changed where she gets additional skills when she eats a slubling and then pump her HP scaling a bit so she lasts longer than 15 seconds but not where she takes 5 minutes.

Her phases are based on health %, and it only takes like 2 zerkers to lock her down, so you’ll basically need to solo it to actually see it. From what I’ve seen, she has a basic melee attack and an AoE that trails, placing a delayed AoE every second for a few seconds.

The Karka Queen is the only Ember Bay boss that is interesting to fight.

It is? As someone who always seems to get aggro and stays in melee range, all it does is sit there and spams spit, which I avoid by hiding behind others. Retaliation is its only threat if no one removes it.

The pyro jade bow has too much HP but otherwise is not interesting at all, just repeat the same thing over and over and try not to fall asleep.

Bring more damage. The event is a basic DPS meter where #1 gets to carry everyone, or destroy ranged.

I think a contributing factors as to why pyro takes so long is because of how you have more players that sit up top ranging it rather than down below doing melee.

I wonder if the Dominator going down faster has anything to do with the increased damage when chillled. I know its description doesn’t say it shares that trait with lesser “new” Destroyers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did anyway.

She definitely has attacks. I’ve seen people get downed by the ground pound thing. There is also the fire breath but that seems so high I am not sure it it can hit any player.

Doubtful. The difference isn’t all that dramatic on the normal destroyers with that weakness and it still goes down at the same speed even on a character without any source of chill.

Looks like the wurm is immune to crits.

People kill Dominator with FA Eles as with Chill Necros. While your idea is valid I don’t think that’s the only problem.

Yeah a lot of these “bosses” melt really fast. the sloth go’s down really fast. Once there where about 10 of us vs her, we put a call out on to map chat to say she was up. only to say 5 seconds later she was down.

The longest boss fights are the Jade and worm, but that’s only because the work is unkillable unless your a giant golem, and the jade and go invulnerable.

I’ve heard reports that you can directly attack the wurm. Players also tend to range the jade boss more often than melee which results in less DPS. I’m sure if players melee’d both the wurm and jade, they’d go down quicker. This is just speculation though.

You can definitely attack the wurm (ranged, if nothing else, from the lower level). If there are enough players up top, then others should probably do so.

Fact is many players want to slow this fight as much as they can because you can easily scale into Champions among the worms up top. Even if players would attack Vermingorous not only do they miss out on the bags themselves but also limit the time window for Champions to spawn for the entire group.

Except bags are given so freely, and in greater quantities, in other parts of the game. I don’t understand why they’d try to slow this particular fight.

True. But when people do this encounter for say their daylies they might as well grab the bags no? And by “slowing” I meant “not speed up”
