Lately found dungeons and certain area e.g silverwaste quite empty and not many players in the map mostly PvE content.

Found a new players wanting to do dungeon mostly get their exotic amour etc but most older player have move on to newer content (tired playing old dungeon, been there done that kind of issues) and the waiting can vary from 5mins – 1hr pacific timing.

Wondering Anet have any plans to address the issues ? Maybe by adding Henchman or heroes in guildwars 1.

considering how well the ai henchmen you get in story works, would you really like that in the explorable paths?

Well something needs to be done because he’s right. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get guild mates or anyone to run dungeons, let alone multiple, like I’d like to.

@Linken
Yeah it will be good to have them in explorable path in otherwise bad situation.

@Bandrell
It does help to have supportive guild but everyone have limited time on their hand so it either to help a guildmate or progress toward your own goals. It kind of hard to choose between the two at times. Thou Anet add other ways to earn those exotic in PvP and WvW it might not be that great too (that cannon fodder feeling that would make people rage quit is still there)

I doubt this game will ever get Heroes/Henchmen (although being able to use your other characters inside instances would be amazing).. but anywho, I feel your pain. Been trying to get people to run CoE for awhile now. As much as I love GW2 and as much money as I have spent on it, there is an undeniable fact drifting towards absolute realization that GW2 is losing its legacy players, its identity and it’s community all together in this current outstretched content drought. Without Legacy players, the necessity of the abandoned dungeon system leaves the community with nobody running them.

Hell on that note, you can rarely get a decent metamap started— naturally (like you could back in June-Oct of 2016)— without artificially stimulated your maps through taxis. As everyone knows, this process may workwith VB (rarely) and AB, but TD and DS suffer due to it. Again, this is an issue that comes down to the ever shrinking population of Legacy Players that put the game on hiatus while they wait for new content— and waiting for new content is a game unto itself which comes quicker than you may think, even if you can only play 4 hours a night and are into doing the achievements/collections.

NPCs wouldn’t go very well. They’d have to be at a champion+ level and designed to basically play the content themselves. Scaling for solo play would likely be far easier to implement. They could do an outnumbered buff for example, where your damage dealt and received is greatly modified.

Well fingers cross nothing is for certain, Anet ever sold Heroes in Gw 1 to players to address the problem before but it might be very long wait for it.If they could roll it out sooner it will be great for those who wants it.

I could not have agree with you more CoE is one of the dungeon planned to run if i had the time. Most of the time on weekday it quite empty,weekend are slight better during NA timing. Could only hope for the best.

@Healix
Outnumbered buff i believe have been suggested before so far don’t see any change yet. As for NPC, Anet does pretty good job for the previous NPC in Gw 1 and is pretty well know for NPC to run prefect interrupt combo till the point players banging for nerf.

Anet have previous had it in Gw1 so is just matter or copy and paste most of the source code. Previous Henchmen just follow very simple method of following a player and spam preset skills on contact .It not that different from the pets your see from rangers. Anet have the means to do it, it just a matter of wanting to do it.(They could sell heroes to players if they wanted to and if there is demand for it)

This. Due to the nature of GW2 dungeon PvE — big hits that need to be blocked or dodged, lots of AoE that needs to be avoided or moved out of — NPC AI would have to be phenomenal. GW2 NPC AI is nowhere near this capable. In fact, the NPC AI in GW2 is not in any way better than that in GW, and may be worse.

A numerical buff for solo dungeons such as Healix envisions would be a lot easier to create, as it would need only to change the damage taken and damage dealt formulae. What might require some work are dungeon mechanics that require multiple players, such as the laser grid on CoE.

Solo mode dungeons would require not only upscaled player/downscaled mobs, but an off switch for most of the puzzles. They were made to be group content.

I’d rather see a buff like the wvw dolyaks get, except better, to encourage groups to run together instead of stringing out and wiping for 20 minutes trying to skip 2 minutes of fighting trash. That kills dungeon fun way more than the long time commitment and lousy loot.

My guild does dungeon tours more or less every other day if not daily, so there is still quite obviously a demograhic for it.

I can’t speak for my guildies but seeing as most of the paths are soloable in their current form anyway, I don’t see a lot of reason why they should put resources into re-working dungeons that could be spent elsewhere.

^ This.

OP, it might just be a function of where you live and what times you play, but I do 16+ paths a day, usually in less than 3 hours. All done via LFG, have never once run a dungeon with a guildmate, ever.

And it’s not like I’m sitting still waiting for LFG to fill for most of those 3 hours – I’m usually doing stuff farming for a legendary, maybe even a couple ranked matches here and there during a lull in LFG activity.

My suggestion would be to just add an extra pve daily for a dungeon and have it rotate between all 8 dungeons over time. The rewards can be the same as whenever a dungeon currently comes up in the daily rotation, only difference would be that there would now ALWAYS be a dungeon on the daily tab.

As with jumping puzzles I think this would draw people to the content and it would make it easier to find a group for a dungeon you wanted to do.

More AI in dungeons would bring more bugs into an already bugged scenario.

Dungeons: use the LFG groups fill fast

Silverwastes: there is almost always a squad you can join to ferry into a populated map.

We don’t need to turn this into a single player game.
