Engineer: Speedy Kit + Kit refinement
Simply making it “in combat” only would go a long way. All else fails always have toolkit ready for runs and pop that giving you superspeed and not agroing anything

Necros have to deal with that since the beginning (warhorn 5), so i am sure engies will also get used to it….

That doesnt address the OP’s last concern.
ps can somebody link to th is new info. I dont know whats going on..
Kit refinement has been basically useless since it was changed – I’d prefer it was just removed if they are getting rid of bad ones.

So have eles (air staff 4, or staff 5 plus blast finisher). However, both necros and eles also have the option of slotting a signet for perma swiftness (Locusts, Air) that will not aggro anything. Engies don’t have anything equivalent to that.
Main engi. Honestly, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I’ve played of couple of builds where I didn’t rely on SK. When I run it and it tosses me in combat, I’ll just have TK (as previously mentioned)…. Srsly, who roams or pvps w/out TK?
More to the point, it’s too early to tell. Just looking at the new way things are being handled makes my theory craft geek squeal w/ delight.

Taking Speedy Kits away from the Adept slot is ridiculously inappropriate. As said above its part of many of our builds, you guys are practically nerfing 80 percent of the engi builds which are not a turret( altough u nerfed the turret builds in recent patch anyways huh).Losing it will destroy alchemy trait aswell (Invigorating Speed) and many other things.

You complaining because you dont fully understand how new trait system works. Doesnt matter anymore if that trait is adept or master. Invigoratin speed was merged. Open that video again and play it few times until you start seeing those awesome new synergies and posibilites.

I might be wrong here, engi is not my main, but don’t you need to have a target for Kit Refinement to trigger?

Nope.
Go slot it in lions arch. Activate a kit and watch the effect happen.
You’ll get the little “trait buff” icon telling you it’s ready then the next kit equipped will have an effect… even in Lions arch with no target and not in combat.
I just had a play about with it and three kits could cause an issue, they are Elixir Gun (which leaves an immobilizing goo in your wake), Bomb Kit (which leaves a time bomb at your feet) and Grenade Kit (which drops a mine). Tool Kit gives a speed buff, Med Kit gives you a shield and Flamethrower gives you a fire aura. So if you have one of these kits, you could easily make use of the Speedy Kits trait without inadvertantly engaging in combat.
I do not think this change is all that damaging.
Aye should be manageable, however, it’d sure be nice if they did “in combat only” if only to make it more reasonable to use it in combat. If I’m running along keeping my swiftness going, get to where I kill, refinement’s on cooldown… what a waste.

Power Shoes trait? That is arguably even better than a signet, I’d much rather give up one trait slot than a utility slot just to run faster.
