Doing the Wyvern event in Verdant Brink, I was there all the way through the Event, handed in a heap of eggs. Unfortunately when the Event got to about 75% I died. I laid dead for maybe 10 seconds before I got the message “Due to player inactivity you are no longer participating in the event _”. So I Waypoint and try to get back as soon as possible, but the event is over, and I lost out on my reward. Even though I’d spent a good 10 minutes putting actual effort into doing this event.

Don’t get me wrong, I 10000000% understand why this mechanic is in place, because of AFKers and ‘Taggers’. But I just find it’s not fair to those of us caught in my situation having to suffer because of it. Verdant Brink is hard enough to survive as it is without the added risk of not even getting anything for the work we put in.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this? It’s happening all the time. Maybe lengthen the lockout timer or something – anything.

Thanks <3

Please please PLEASE fix this!

First off, I have NEVER gotten the ‘player inactivity’ message. Ever.

I did the Rescue Nobel’s event solo, and freed 6/7 of them before a tendril KO’d me. It took about a minute for someone else to show up and rescue the final Nobel. I waited for my XP and chest and got…nothing. For an event I did almost all the work for.

This isn’t the first time this has happened, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It’s incredibly frustrating doing events because there’s no point to help out at the event if I FINALLY get to it and it’s almost over or I die during it.

It’s a dumb solution to a non-problem. With the experience requirements for masteries, not to mention the extra loot of actually killing enemies, afking is not going to be nearly such a problem (and i barely noticed it ever, before).

By all means keep the code for the system in place in case it ever does become significant enough to warrant drastic measures but right now it’s not needed and definitely not wanted. And it could be dealt with a lot better than this sloppy band-aid of a fix anyway.

I keep getting the message for events I’m not participating in.

But I definitely see the problem people keep running into.
And I think what needs to happen is the higher your participation (they have a meter for it now) the longer your timeout should be.
Tag-n-run? Yours expires fairly quickly.
Spend 30 minutes soloing an event chain before dying? You could take a nap on your way back and still get credit.

Then they just need to address participation credit/reward on disconnect.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

The criteria for getting silver over bronze and gold over silver has been made less forgiving, too, which i think is a step in the right direction. It should certainly affect your mapwide participation gauge what level of contribution you get for an event, and i’ve gone so far as to suggest in the past adding in a Platinum level event accomplishment for majorly better rewards even than gold, and available only if you were present for at least 2/3 or 3/4 of the events run time and provided an equal-or-greater level of contribution to anyone else present.

Though i really think, if you contributed to an event – at all, in any way, shape or form – that should be recognised. Why should your contribution become less meaningful over time? events scale down after players leave their are anyway.

There has to be bug in the code somewhere because it always shows up for me after the Event is over, and no one is participating anymore, and I get it for practically every event I do. Why should I participate in an Event that has ended? The Event is over after all.

I did a pact soldier escort event completely solo, killed all the event spawns, and made sure the event finished. I got no credit.

The event timed out somewhere between the mushroom cave (where you gather scrap metal for faren’s event chain) and the rally point. I suspect it’s because of the spacing of event spawns. I’d be willing to bet that even if I was with a group, we all would have timed out.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos
