Events Feedback
I managed to play the Itzel event to its fullest – all the way to the Wyvern. It was fun, full of variety and interesting.
The feedback I have to give on it, though, is to balance the length of some of them. Throwing food at the Nuhoch took ages, and it wasn’t clear if it was working or not until I spotted the Itzel leaving one by one after food was thrown at him. People began leaving as they thought it was bugged. It takes way too long and needs better feedback that the food being thrown is actually doing something.
The Wyvern fight was fun, but it scaled really badly. It did a lot of damage to a big group, which was great, but when we started damaging it, it was dead within 20 seconds and it didn’t even manage to take off in the air for CCs to be used. Additionally, it was invulnerable for about a minute whilst being able to damage us. I don’t know if it was meant to be invulnerable so it could kill all the NPCs, but it felt unfair that it could kill us without us being able to damage it back.
Overall, love the variety between event chains/events. It’s nice to see ANet have some fresh ideas.
Throwing food at the Nuhoch
It wasn’t even entirely clear that this was what you were supposed to do. I saw the baskets, but it wasn’t clear they were for that event stage. At first I was just waiting for him to finish his speech as he converted the frogs, as that would be what would have happened in most of the original GW2 game. Eventually a few of us just started throwing food, but it really wasn’t clear at all that it was the intended action. Or maybe I was tired and am misremembering what the event instructions said.
Some feedback animation, and perhaps a much clearer event description would have helped immensely.
Also after the successful event, whichever frog was walking out and talking, his speaking lines kept getting cut off too early by his next set of lines.
Ok another Thing to the Event where Skybreaker plants the Bombs.
The intended way to do the Event is to have People down there to use CC skills to deplete the Break Bar, making it possible for the Snipers to kill them. But this is something you can cheese very easily. Use the Sniper Volley just at the Moment when the Husks spawn. There is some time between spawning and getting this Shield and in this time you can obliterate them with the Sniper Volley. Makes this Event, well a b it of boring.
Another thing I noticed after this Event. May be responsible for the broken Event after this one. The two NPCs are walking through a wall, and also they are porting. Saw Skybringer just ported to the front and Laranthir was in the Back, but when this Event starts he also ports to the Event Location. Think this is a pathing issue.
I was looking for a topic like that.
I really like the events in Verdant Brink so far, they make the zone feel alive and carry the story around the crash so well. But I think, or better it feels like the events are too hard.
Don’t get me wrong, I like a good challenge, but I have the feeling the scaling of the events for this beta is a little bit off. We did the Pale Reaver Event (the one with the great vine) with 3 or 4 people and we were constantly downed, the mobs wouldn’t die and they pushed too many attacks too close in a row. It felt like we were doing an event designated for 10+ people. There was even a champ mordrem troll spamming bee-fields all over us.
Arenanet needs to look into the scaling of events and make sure it works right, so that events that are not marked as ’group events" are possible to do.
Besides that, they were great fun and I didn’t mind the constant downtime that much – but I can see others will struggle with that.
