Exact time of the release
When it’s ready
:)
Rule #1 of MMO’s – Never take valuable vacation time off on any launch day.
The game in question will be:
1) late in launching (towards the end of day
2) riddled with bugs that the testers missed, and will be hot fixed several times – interrupting your enjoyment.
3) the starting areas (in this case verdant brink) will be full of so many people you will miss a lot of what’s going on.
4) server issues will arise lagging out or crashing the game
5) Trolls. So many Trolls
6) All of the above
Save that Vacation day for the following Monday (26th) and treat yourself to a Monday long weekend.
I wonder what time of day the expansion will release?
If it releases in the morning for me in EU I need to take one day off from work! No lost gaming time is acceptable!
Would be great to get some more information on this.
If no lost gaming time is acceptable maybe you should quit work entierly and game if not what will you be able to do the first 24h that you cant do the day after?

Well! I actually agree with you! Great points.
But I’m a guild leader and I want to have as much as possible set up for my fellow guildies when they log on
I don’t think Anet have ever given a release time for a patch

If I don’t have a job I can’t spend a fortune on gems, so not an option

While I agree with the above completely, I cannot say that I agree when it comes to Guild Wars.
ArenaNet does beautiful things with their servers.

kittened up servers till Monday confirmed
Personal advice. Never play on release date. There will be tons of lag. Wait until the next day.
I do think Anet has done a fantastic job of server maintenance and management (probably the best I’ve seen in my 16+ years of playing mmo’s).
Unfortunately no matter how talented the team or how shiny the tech, there will be a greater chance of issues occurring on a launch day than a few days later.
It happens.
As a long time gamer – I’ve seen it / I expect it / I accept it.
One specific point: Anet has yet to tell us when they are planning to ‘flip the switch’ on launch day. This means they could launch Hot at 12:01am on the 23rd (their local time), maybe the start of their business day, maybe later in the day – we don’t know.
I strongly suggest that people choosing to take a vacation day off from work consider where they are located geographically in relation to where Anet is located.
For example: I live in central time zone. I start work early, and am home by mid-afternoon. Traditionally, Anet content launches around my lunch break. By the time I get home, content has only been live for about 3-4 hours. It never made sense for me to take a day off on a launch/patch day because the reward did not = what I was giving up (a full vacation day).
Choose wisely.
There was one exception to this: Early Access 2012.
I remember getting up at 1-2am waiting for the server’s to flip on so I could reserve my first character’s names.
Maybe they might surprise us and pull another 2012?
Anet is on the west coast of America, so Pacific standard time is their hallmark.
Crystal Desert
I’d personally take the following day off or even a few days later and combine it with my other two days off for that week. (Or one day if your a shift worker)
The same day with how downloads have been recently it will take a while to get in and you’ll have to deal with server crashes and fixes for the first few hours in which you would prob just waste your time off.
