Some of us have stacks of these materials. Having eaters like Mawdrey is one way to get rid of them. I could imagine some Charr invention that uses airship oil, an Asura device that uses ley line sparks, etc.

Another way is to have a vendor that lets us trade it in for map currency and vice versa. So, airship oil could be traded for airship parts, Auric dust for aurillium, etc. As we can use map currency for various things, this could let us make use of any excess. But if we find out we might need more of the ascended HOT materials, we could use map currency to buy those materials.

I think people have got to stop depending on ANet to manage excessive mats. If you have too much ascended materials, delete them. The value of the eaters relative to the amount of work to manage the excess is relatively low.

As for ley line sparkes + airship oil + auric dust: those are base components for fulgurite and the only valuable ascended mat sink in the game. Fulgurite adds a few gold to the value of dowels and patches, which, due to time gates, sells very very well.

It also only uses up 1 mat at a time, and requires obsidian shards. Not every is drowning in obs shards, so its not practical for them to use fulgurite crafting as an “eater” for the HoT ascended mats.

I guess the best solution for everyone would be giving HoT ascended vendor prices, so we could just vendor a whole stack for like 10s.

What is the point of giving these items as rewards if their only value is to delete them? Better to replace them with Junk which we at least could receive a couple of coins for.

I guess the big ‘eaters’ for this items are(were) the Guild Hall upgrades, which is/was the point of giving these items as rewards. Maybe there will be new Guild Hall uses in the future, or Converters just like with the other Ascended mats, now that many have completed their Hall upgrades.

No, please, for the love of god, no more convertors. These things are just eating space in my alts bags and are mostly useless. At least in case of bloodstone dust, there are far mor efficient ways to convert it into gold.
