So, I think I figured out why the valuation of $50 for the content offered is throwing me off. The funny thing is, it has nothing to do with the content being bad or anything because its Anet and GW2, it wont be bad. However, I think they shot themselves in the foot when they released the base game. For $60 they released this world that was vast, immersive, and interesting that was filled with a friendly community from the get go. The $50 price point is 83% of the cost of the original game which means that in order for Anet to match the level of value from the base game they would have to supply at least 83% of what the base game offered. I can’t compare HoT to any other game by any other makers I can only compare it to the base game and Anet set the bar so high for the cost I dont know from what ive seen if they can reach that again.

The price is just an effect of recent changes in the gaming world, where you get less for more money and buy into early access promises and kickstarter ideas. This is the age of overpriced DLC, where Anet could have sold 1 new sPvP map for $10 and it wouldnt even have been strange.

Trying to put a value on HoT will only make your head explode.

Im not saying those DLCs are worth it either. Its all wrong in my opinion and a rip off. Anet showed us what they can give us for the money and something like this is where they prove they can continue to deliver.

What people don’t understand is no expansion offer the same amount of content as the base game. Look at ff14 and wow. WoW base game is 5 $ and WoD is 50$, why are people buying that. FF14 heavensward have no where near enough content as base game yet it charge 40$. Plus those are p2p games, they charge an additional sub fee, people are just not use to paying for gw2.

Some must fight so that all may be free.
