My daughter’s account was hacked while she was away for about a year and a half. We have all the original account information and I’m sure it will eventually get all squared away, but in the event that it doesn’t…

My question is, if I buy her Heart of Thorns with the core game included, does she have to wait to play the core game until HoT launches or does she get to play it straight away? (the core game I mean, obviously she can’t play HoT til its live)

She will be able to play straight away, assuming you create a new account. Of course, she will start from zero.

Thats what I was hoping. I’m sure they’ll be able to get her original account up and running as we have all the information including the ‘welcome’ email from when they received payment for core game, but there’s always the possibility that something could go wrong and I was planning to get her HoT for her birthday on the beginning of July anyway. Yes but she wont get hot on her old account it will be tied to her new fresh account.

If you choose to create a whole new account with your HoT pruchase when her old account is restored it will not be able to access HoT when it launches (without another purchase of HoT).

I got hacked a while ago and to resolve it they essentially restored my game to a point in time before I got hacked – meaning any progress made after that point was deleted. You can choose this option (I did) but be aware that any playing on that account from now until it is restored will be lost.

I’m not entirely sure what would happen if you attached HoT to her original (hacked) account and then it got restored. I would ask customer services and see if they have any suggestions.

The restoration of an account takes a while (I think I was waiting about 5 weeks).

Get all the information and then ask your daughter if there was something worth turning back time for (I would also point out you do not get restored to the day of the hack – you can be pushed even further back losing things done before the hack too).
