Extreme Mode: Migraine AP
I did it with “2-man”, with a guildie. Took us about 4 hours. All I can say you’ll need really competent, mechanic driven players to complete it as the first fight can be hectic with 5 players. That means it’s less of a chance to actually LFG these attempts.
Definitely worth obtaining Modrem Loop though.

Wow that sounds painful.
Would you say ‘working as intend’ or do you expect anet to make some changes to this/
It looks working as intended. It is called extreme mode for a reason.
Took our 5 man group around 50 minutes. ~40 minutes for 1 boss. Canach’s break bar mechanic completely bugged out so we had to brute force it with direct/condition damage.
Didnt made yet the “extreme” mode", but for those that havent doen it yet, what do you have to ecxpect there to be prepared for it.
Have the enemies in EM just only significantly alot more health to drag the fights into the length, that it takes 4 hours?
Or do they have in EM also alot new skilsl making the battles actually alot harder?
Has EM some kind of negative side effects that make the battle harder like for example that if the group dies, that you need to completely start from new or like in the fractals such negative debuffs, that make the battles just harder?
Would like to hear a description from someone who has made it already successfully, what you have to expect from EM as to why some people call it a nightmare and why it takes people 4 hours to do it … ^^
The hardest part it seems is beating Blighted Eir.
Yea, the first fight…. I’ve only tried it once so far, on a pure zerk pure melee guardian lol….. let’s just say that was rough and put me in my place lol. (We didn’t get past the first boss)
And I wouldn’t say I’m a bad zerk guard either, solo’ed the mission in normal mode with no deaths, first time doing the mission, and regularly did fractal50’s per-HoT with no issues what so ever.

It does not bugged out. The incredible break bars seem to be part of the extreme mode. We used 3 tornado ele and a chronomancer for timewarps to break his breakbar.
The hardest part it seems is beating Blighted Eir.
Eir was pretty easy with our 3 ele composition. In fact we did so much damage that Eir was completly busy rezzing Garm all the time that she never attacked us once after downing Garm once.

If it is true than it is worst boss design I have ever seen.
@Orpheal Personally I have not noticed anything fancy. Only difference from normal mode is bug-like boss behavior and their toughness/vitality skyrocketing to absurd values. I would recommend to bring some condi damage with you and some condi clensing skills. Lots of confusion and instant 20 stacks of burning are very common.
You’ve got to ensure you pick the right allies (NPCs) for the easiest of the 2 fights. You can Google to find some rough guides on the best choices.
As for the first fight with the “bow” enemy (with 5 of you in there), just ensure you assign each player a corner or space to play with. E.g split the area into 4 equal parts, last man to take the middle. Any extra bodies will make the fight harder so Mesmers need to constantly shatter before firestorm phase and Necromancers are to refrain from bringing minions.
From 100% to 75%, “bow” enemy will fire Modrem Sniper shots from 3 corners, remember those spots as they are pretty much fixed spots. On first spot, enemy fires one 1 shot to the nearest player. Then enemy moves to second spot, then third spot. After the shot has been fired from third spot, firestorm phase occurs.
Firestorm (I called it that coz it’s like crazy mad in there) fixates on players, denying you the area to move around. You can dodge past fires so make use of that if you are caught running into a dead end. Idea is to NOT DENY YOUR ALLIES area to move, hence the splitting of the zone.
Let’s say you are taking the bottom right corner of the arena, you “weave” your fixated firestorm (just like the Snake game from Nokia), effectively ensuring you will never run out of space.
At 50% hp, “bow” enemy fires 2 shots consecutively instead of 1. At 25% hp, 3 shots instead of 2. Rinse and repeat.
For Canach (since someone already mentioned it), avoid fire grenades (those telegraphed, slightly bigger aoe circles). Good to have either a Revenant or Guardian to provide area Stability so that all of you can comfortable break bar. This means that before the fight, have atleast 2-3 break bar skills. Stuns, knockdowns, knockbacks is bread and butter here. Having an Engineer helps but a venomshare Thief is king.
For the last fight, survive and DPS. Pretty straightforward apart from the point where you have to clear those shadows. An orange AOE circle will appear underneath each player’s legs. A second layer (slightly darker overlay) will follow suit. Dodge before the 2nd circle completes. If you fail to dodge, you’ll go down immediately.
Good luck! Fight should last about 1hr or less with a competent group. I took 4 hours because I chose to 2-man it for the challenge hahaha!
Hope I didn’t spoil anything and sorry for the long post.

Maybe I’ll try that. The hardest part of that fight is getting people who don’t die from her fire arrow volley attack.

Tbh that’s a poor analogy, when you compare this AP to the others from the HoT Story. The other AP’s have varying degrees of difficulty but nothing compared to this one, its completely disproportionate.
So many people who have completed the other AP’s will get stuck on this. It just doesn’t make sense to scale the level of skill/ability and coordination to pull this off.
Keep the hard scaling content to raids.

Honestly its a learn to play issue if the top players solo this extreme mode. Any half decent group should be able to do it once they figured out the mechanics and can play their class. I would not mind if they increased the AP reward to 20 though.
I am glad there is some challenging non raid content where you do not need 10+ players to do anything.

Sure I can relate to that, however it still doesn’t change how disproportionate it is to the other AP’s.
Seem like “Migraine” is very fitting name for this achivement .
Gonna try with friends someday.
I did it about 10 days back with a random lfg group. It wasnt that hard for us. We did wipe 3 times on Eir but then we started zerging her pet down so fast she didnt have time to do her map covering fire field arrow attack because she had to run to her pet to rez it. We kept killing the pet, she would stop attacking to rez, we broke the bar and attacked and repeated. Canach took us only 2 tries and we killed the final boss on the first time. The team was very competent and we had a lot of helpfull classes
It wasnt that hard for us.
You would have been in that instance for hours.
Eir can be a little hard at first, but you just have to keep moving. Once garm is down, don’t let her get going and keep hard DPS on him whenever he’s revived.
Canach you just need to slot a lot of CC.
I would advise making an event out of it with some solid guildies, if possible. The mordrem loop is an excellent piece of equipment and a great piece for condi especially.
