Fallen Masks
I was getting a bit frustrated trying Fallen Masks on my Reaper when a guildie suggested using a Druid with Natural Stride. Worked a treat and I got the silver I needed. If you can remember the mask spawn points (it’s RNG but the possible spawn points are the same), and which mushroom sends you where, it’s not so bad. I totally get your frustration though: had a few runs of 13 and 14 before I swapped over to my Druid. I’m just thankful it wasn’t a silver in Sanctum Scramble I needed, especially with the 1 skill going missing…

Well, this might make me train part of Druid on my Ranger…
i payed a fried to do it for me in my home, i hate jumping based games.
I haven’t tried to beat that adventure since I got my Silver for the collection. What I recall was that it was a combination of reasonable RNG in my one silver success, remembering to check both minimap and eyeball view for where the next blue icon was and racing to it without a pause to orient myself, getting a feel for which mushroom took me where, using gliding and lean techniques as much as possible, and being willing to take a hunk of damage dropping a distance to a mushroom to get to it faster (might want to put on fall damage reduction to help with that).
I did it. Three 14/15 in a row had me almost punching my monitor. But I did it! Got the silver. Here’s hoping I NEVER have to step inside another “adventure” ever again. Fingers crossed.
The main part of this is that a skill achievement is not part of a “collection.” Having the “silver in X adventure” for these collections is just annoying. Bad enough that one of the items starts ANOTHER collection going.
Some of these adventures are reasonable. Others make me walk away ready to bash the keyboard or on the verge of motion sickness because I can’t watch things bouncing and twirling for too long. I get they are fun for some folks, but these aren’t “collection” items.
Getting silver on this adventure is easy, only gold is hard. (I think all adventures are fine on silver level, just 5-6 gold medals need adjusting imho)
This will never get you gold but the way I did it was to just use the mushroom that bounces you the highest(I think it is the north west one) and then falling on the appropriate mask.
Silver is fairly easy but gold is very hard.
Make sure you check your minimap for the blue icon, helps out a lot.
I don’t get why they won’t fix this, it is simply too hard, at least add 10 seconds to the countdown…
Who at Anet thought “adventures” were a good idea at all, let alone force their completion to get MPs and items for collections?
The same person / people who thought that platforming in the open world was a good idea to add to a MMO.
Forcing your entire population to deal with twitch-based play will only chase away people who don’t enjoy that type of play. Minigames and JP should be optional ONLY.

Just because you decided that they are mandatory for yourself, doesn’t mean that they are actually mandatory. Getting gold in adventures can be skipped entirely and all masteries can still be completed. No collection items require gold completion.
I completed every adventure with silver/gold. Once I got used to the mechanic it was easy going, except for the one below Tarir. I kept falling down over and over again.
Fallen Masks: Use mini map, look if you have to go up or down before starting to run.
Just the other day we had this adventure as the daily. I played it horribly by not maintaining swiftness from the mushrooms, missing jumps, and probably had the worst of the possible sets that I could get for masks. Despite all of that, I managed to get 16 which was like 1 more than what was needed for silver. If I can play that horribly, and still get silver, then surely someone making much more of an effort can do better.
Are you BEEPING kidding me, SILVER??? Silver is easy as BEEP. That is not the BEEPING problem. GOLD that is the problem, spend days trying to get that BEEP and unless you are the luckiest BEEPBEEPER or a BEEPER don’t BEEPING say More Effort = Gold. Forgive the lack of maturity, but get within ONE second of getting 25 and see if you can control your need to spout expletives. One 24 in an Ocean of 23…

Getting silver wasn’t an issue. After 2-3 tries I did it. Also the Energy Crystal drops quite often. I had it quite a few times and also I did it quite often. So imho not big issues. But it seems a lot of people don’t want to work anymore for their special skins/items.

In what way have they made Shooting Gallery or Fallen Masks more reasonable. In the case of Shooting Gallery, memorization, twitch skills, and luck can eventually get you Gold. But, it is still absurd how much effort is needed. For Fallen Masks, you literally can’t waste a second and have to hope the RNG Gods are on your side. If you, yourself, got Gold and claim it doesn’t need to be fixed, then you have my respect for you are more skilled than I. But, in no way can Fallen Masks Gold be considered fair for the less skilled/lucky.

But, thank you for sharing that information on the update, 15 seconds… jeez… barely managed to get 25 with hardly a second to spare and that was after spending most of my game time for 3 days trying to get the thing. Still, at least the wiki acknowledges that the placement of the next mask is often too far from the previous one making it near impossible to get gold.

I got 25 before the nerf. Nothing rude about suggesting that people take a little time to learn what the optimal paths are to each mask and which directions the mushrooms propel you.
