I finally got some time off school and have some time to actually play the game, I’ve had HoT since the prerelease and I’m only at mastery level 15 which shows how little I’ve been playing. After getting my Engineer through the hero point process in Maguuma to get the rest of his Elite Spec I saw Fix-R-Upper and wanted it cause it looks cool, but i need to level through 7 maguuma masteries. So I was just wondering what’s the best way to level mastery points for Maguuma? Is it still the meta event in Dragon’s Stand? I’m just looking to shorten my grind for Fix-R-Upper as much as possible. I also still need the machined hammer. Any help/guidance is appreciated.

Killing enemies during the Dragon Stand escort with full XP boosts will give you the most. Just make sure you have enough mastery points for what you need.

I found map completion on multiple characters was the quickest way. But, I wanted all of the ascended weapons and quick mastery and elite leveling.

I had so many gift of the fleets (7) that I had to run more toons though other maps to clear space in my bank and the unevenness of varying number of map gifts I’d received. To this day, I have 4 gifts of Maguma and 3 gifts of the fleet. But, I have all but 2 of the asc weapons and am sitting at 161 mastery points. It took about 3-4 months to get to that point, after which I looked at the last 2 weapons and said, I don’t use or need those right now.

While I think it’s possible to get to 161 using 1 toon, you will end up fighting tons of mobs to get those last few categories and it may get boring after awhile.

The benefits to running other toons through are perhaps more diverse leveling and increased chances of collecting more off the other items you’ll need for your asc weapons (ie currencies, loot box opening devices, profession specific items) not to mention unlocking other elite professions along the way.

Either way, as was said above, run experience boosters to speed up the process, those T5 masteries are slow and get daunting after awhile.

DS with booster is still one of the best way, but VB is also great. Similar level of xp, while it easier to get in and you can get out without loosing too much now that they give more reward for each individual event. VB was great at launch, but it was hard to find a zerg in the last couple of months. But since the last big patch, it’s easier to find a zerg in the LFG.
