You have to be hyped about at least one of them so far, unless you strictly play one class in the base game.
Chronomancer is lightyears ahead of everyone else and Reaper and Tempest started “Who is worse” shouting competition.

you are such a debbie downer… lighten up dude!
Cronomancer is my obvious favorite as a mesmer main
tho second place is defiantely tempest, followed by dragonhunter and reaper a bit further behind.
Chronomancer is lightyears ahead of everyone else.

I don’t, since light year is a unit of length, not time.
Dragonhunter ALL the way.
I love guardian <3
Also,I don’t have a Mesmer,Elementalist or Necromancer anymore lol.

Being ahead of something is supposed to be a measure of distance. It just so happens to be a measure of distance that’s based on time. You’ve got to be trying to not “get it”. It’s not 10/10 worthy, but you just look silly trying to be smug about it, lol. :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Chronomancer is the only one which shows any imagination
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Easily the Chronomancer.
Although I don’t mind the Reaper and the Tempest. I have no use for the Dragonhunter since that’s not why I play a Guardian.

Sorry, it took so long to get back to you, just got off work.
A light year is a unit of distance based on how fast light travels in one year. This particular unit of length is very, very dependent on time.
Now I hope you can see what you did there haha
Anyways, I am surprised by the votes so far. The same aura of “meh” surrounding Tempest, kind of surrounded the Reaper was well. I wonder if the negativity of the name “Dragonhunter” hurt the spec quite a bit.
Granted there are only 197 votes as of me writing this, which is a very small sample size, but it makes you wonder.
(edited by Jordo.5913)
You can post this strawpoll on reddit too. Maybe you will get a bit of a larger sample size that way.

thank you for the advice!
At least Roy is working on the Revenant
I like him, and he(and his team) took feedback on the revenant, and in less than a week, made TONS of changes.

Reaper is more interesting, different and also appeals to some non necros. Some are disatisfied, but its not the ehh and meh that you feel from dragonhunter and tempest.
Tempest is really off to me. The synergy seems weak, as well as the playstyle not seeming to mesh with itself.
As expected, Robert’s ones are stomping all over Karl’s horrible ones.
aren’t all of the specialisations created by everyone in that dedicated team?
I’m a bit surprised that Tempest ist last, even behind Dragonhunter…
They are primarily designed by one dude i believe
As far as I know they are worked on by a dedicated team, however there is one person that sort of has the spec as his “baby” if you will.

For me tempest seems to be the least interesting one. I was really expecting to be underwhelmed by the warhorn, but I realized that it has some potential with some cooldown adjustments. Additionally, I found a decent skin for the time being, but there is not much variety. The shouts aren’t that bad either, but they don’t excite me much.
The real disappointment is the trait line itself. It doesn’t seem to offer the defenses that a frontline elementalist needs and has too much focus on making overloads a viable option. Why do we need three minor traits to use overloads properly? Isn’t the risk of interruption and the 20 second attunement lockout enough of a problem as it is? Not to mention that tempest doesn’t offer anything new except a little boon stripping with warhorn.
When I look at the other specs, I see bigger changes. Of course I won’t complain about it because there are professions out there that need way more help than elementalists. Still, these are the reasons why tempest is my least favorite spec so far and I hope for something better in the future.

Biased survey is biased. You need to include the “I have no preference” or “None”. I play quite a few classes (and main elementalist) and so far none of them are preffered. They are all “meh” to me.
And no, you don’t have to be hyped about any of them so far.

Yeah many hands touch it, but i think they generally offer suggestions and feedback that the main guy figures what to do with.
I hope the other designs are better. Feels like they are struggling with some of these specs. They look like they had a totally dif tempest a Few weeks ago. Likewise thief seems like it may have changed.
Theoretically these later designs are supposed to be better, but i get the feeling they are just a different direction, with less time to refine the ideas/gameplay. Tempest feels like just the beginning of an idea that needs a lot of refinement

If the point is to find our which is most prefered, prefering neither is irrelevant to the question

They probably all look over it, but one is definitely in charge of each one. Karl does the Guardian, Elementalist and Thief, while Robert does the Mesmer and Necro. The similar horribleness of the Guardian and Ele specs demonstrate that they are not just in charge of introducing the specs.

It is relevant to the vote because it is a preference. Not including a none option means that people who did not prefer one, will now choose one swaying the actual poll giving more votes to something that did not should not have gotten it in the first place.
For example – a person prefers none or they are all equal to them in their mind. THere is no choice for said person to vote in the poll, therefore they will either randomly pick one (not a true vote) or abstain from voting (loss of collection) or “just pick one” because they have no choice. All of this leads to a biased vote that is not accurate.

There should be an option that you don’t care for anything shown so far. Many of us feel that way.
Was looking forward to Tempest. Seems like I was hoping for something much bigger than what we will get.
The ability to combine attunements would have been interesting or a fifth attunement for that matter.
Instead, we are essentially going to get a build that will reward you for staying on the same attunement for a longer period of time.
Something people who have trouble with quick swapping and having many different skills have been asking for, I guess.
Even then, it seems unfinished and a little weak.
Always ready to be proven wrong by them. There are some hopes left for the warrior one…
Dragon hunter. I get so annoyed we have like no range and now we get a long bow to heal/damage from great distance. Pumped!
Reaper looked cool as well, but it involves being on a necro.

If the point of the poll is to be which is a cool profession, then yea none should be an option, but the point is literally which do you prefer.
If i want to find out if more people prefer blue or red neither is not useful information.
Someone voting necro isnt saying necro is awesome they are just saying out of what ive seen necro is best.

Mechanically, DragonHunter.
Conceptually, none. Well, I’ll give it to Reaper on that front I suppose. Not a huge fan, but it kind of works.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.

And that is where bias comes in. For someone who prefers neither (this is an actual thing) or prefers them all equally will then choose red or blue when they actually prefer neither (or both). This leads to one of the choices receiving a false vote, skewing the data and making the poll irrelevant. In your case of red/blue if I didn’t like either and I prefer green, then I would have to choose, creating a false data point. If you do NOT include my vote or remove the vote from the data set, you create selection bias.
This poll at this time means nothing until there is no bias, it is representing false data.

Rating this purely on the changes to profession mechanics… Chronomancer is hands down the best of the bunch while Reaper is the worst. I mean reaper shroud is just another DS spun differently.
Meanwhile, ele seems kind of basic (as in overload is something that could be a GM trait somewhere it is just an added ondemmand proc with some flair) and dragonhunter is the middle of the proverbial road (while its idea is bit similar to overloads in concept, still something more substantial in my opinion because it can’t be ignored).

easy, don’t vote for one…if you don’t prefer one, then you can just close out and not vote at all
For me, Chronomancer so far. Not a fan of the Reaper (not into close-ranged combat and too much emphasis on chill condition in my opinion), Dragonhunter looks cool, so that comes in as 2nd favourite spec for me so far, and Tempest I only like a few of the skills and the fire overload so not exactly my favourite there :-/
I like the Chronomancer skills, loving the shoulder skin, and they’ll be able to wield shields – so I can finally use my tormented shield on my mes I’m going for a tormented theme too with her so…
Reaper so far, though Dragonhunter comes in a close second.
The only one I have zero hype for is the Tempest.

Chronomancer is the only one that gives the impression that it got some effort put into it, the others so far seem rushed and put together by an 6yr old intern or someone with a mentality around that age :\ god that tempest poi was a letdown, a whole hour of horn blowing and avatar playing…
In order from most interesting to least interesting:
1) Reaper
2)Dragon Hunter
3)Chronomancer
4)Tempest
I voted for the mighty Dragon Hunter. I am the minority!
I voted for the mighty Dragon Hunter. I am the minority!
I hope to see you in the Magumma Jungle fellow Dragonhunter!
Also…..~2200 votes! I didn’t expect so many, thanks guys! I really am surprised by the results now. At first, I thought they were off because of the small sample size, but 2200 votes is quite substantial, yet still very small in the entire player base of gw2.
With tempest being the most recent elite spec announced, i figured to have a lot of Ele mains watching the forums, but it seems most people didn’t like it too much.
Reaper is actually doing fairly well with Necro being in a not so great state atm.

Well of course. I just meant to say that the whole team shares some responsibility. If something is truly horrible then I feel that that should have been pointed out by other team members.

Dragonhunter by far(for pvp)
Engineer’s Elite Spec regardless of what it is. Probably Demolisher or something.
After that I guess Reaper & Chronomancer then Dragon Hunter then Tempest
Well at first it was reaper, what with all the chill they were going to have access to. Get in a melee fight with warrior, they try to run, only go half the distance they normally would, end upright inside of my reaper’s claws on GS5. And we were led to believe our dash would be special and not be affected by chill and cripple while the rest were.
But no, chill and cripple got nerfed, and we got kitten ICD on chilling darkness pretty much killing that trait. And with how much they said the numbers weren’t final on reaper, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of those traits like blighter’s boon and chilling force got ICD’s to keep us at the bottom. And tempest shouts show how hypocritical Anet is, least when it comes to necromancer design. Looks like we’re being shot in the knees before we even get to the starting gate.
So really, I’m interested in dragon hunter and revenant right now. Chronomamcer looks cool but mesmer isn’t my playstyle, and neither is ele. Love my necro, but anet apparently doesn’t give a crud about that class. But ill still play it, if only just because I’ve worked and put so much into it.
None of them hyped me that much honestly. They are “O.K.”
easy, don’t vote for one…if you don’t prefer one, then you can just close out and not vote at all
And this is why the poll has bias. I’m done trying to explain why this is the case. Either learn some basic polling requirements or be prepared to have skewed and not relevant results.

Chronomancer so are is best (even though I hate mesmers), just since it seems the most op out of all them still. Tempest is definitely on the bottom of the whole list (even under those that we don’t know the specifics of so far).
