Fav elite spec so far? Strawpoll
The Karl designed ones will always be the worst.
Reaper disagrees.
MARA (EU) Gunnar’s Hold
I voted Chronomancer even though I main Ele. Gotta say I’m pretty disappointed in what the Tempest turned out to be…
I main ele and voted reaper, the GS on necro look sick.
Tempest is mostly disappointing about of the melee range on the squishiest class, having to camp attunement, no blast or defense on warhorn beside protection and a terrible elite.
easy, don’t vote for one…if you don’t prefer one, then you can just close out and not vote at all
And this is why the poll has bias. I’m done trying to explain why this is the case. Either learn some basic polling requirements or be prepared to have skewed and not relevant results.
lord, this isn’t a life or death situation bro
I’m just asking what people like so far….if you pick one, that means it is the one that you have some interest in of the ones revealed so far
You forgot 3 options:
- I do not have a preference
- They -=ALL=- suck
and- Who cares? I won’t know until I can actually PLAY THEM?
I prefer #3 on my list….
You have to be hyped about at least one of them so far, unless you strictly play one class in the base game.
No.
It is entirely possible to not be hyped about any of them even if one plays more than one class.
I am definitely going to play the kitten out of my Revenant first, but I think Dragonhunter will be my first elite spec i try out. Chronomancer seemed okay but I am not one for overly complex mechanics that involve time. Dragonhunter looked awesome, love the longbow skills and the traps looked sweet. Reaper looked cool as well, but it involves being on a necro. Tempest looked pretty dull.
I am looking forward to the Warrior,Thief, and Revenant specs though, so my answer may change.
With 4 out of 9 elite specs shown, what has been your favorite?
I’m not hyped for any of them. They all look mhe to me. I’m sure some people are super hyped, but the only so I might use will be the necro one, the dragon hunter.dose nothing for me. I don’t play mesmer or ele, and there’s look uninteresting to me.

On the 0-10 Indigo scale, my current ratings are below. All ratings are subject to change pending new information.
- 6 – Chronomancer: The mechanics seem interesting, and the ability to have a constant passive speed boost on a Mesmer is by itself reason to consider this spec in a positive light.
- 4 – Tempest: Hated the warhorn choice, and the animations all look the same to me. However, the mechanics look interesting enough to warrant a lengthy exploration of possibilities — after initial balance passes take place.
- 1 – Reaper: I loved Necromancer in GW. I’ve wanted to love it in GW2, a game whose active, action combat is what makes that aspect of play superior to GW. However, in order to enjoy it, I’m forced into limited, unappealing play-styles, of which Reaper looks to be yet another. I don’t know why slow attacks are supposed to be appealing in an action game, but they won’t cut it for me — especially on a profession whose “fast” attack option (Dagger main) is already so much less dynamic than Ele D main.
- 1 – Dragonhunter: Ranged support is not something I’m lacking for options for in GW2. Low-damage bow attacks do not appeal, as Guardian already has low-damage ranged attacks.
- 0 – Druid: The reported inability to lose the unwanted anchor (pet) probably dooms this spec for me. Throw in ranged staff, which is ineffably boring for me on the profs than use it now, and that’s two nails in the coffin.
- Based on current information, ANet is batting an anemic .240, not bad for a shortstop, great for a pitcher, but not for a cleanup hitter.

When people overwhelmingly look forward to the Chronomancer and Reaper, which share the same designer, and are overwhelmingly underwhelmed by the Tempest and Dragonhunter, which share the same designer, what does that say about their respective designers and e-specs?

It says that the sample size and selection are not currently sufficient to make any such correlation.

Sure, if it was just the strawpoll that I was drawing upon, which can be admittedly be dismissed as circumstantial evidence. But at first glance – from the strawpoll and elsewhere – there does seem to be a correlation.
