Reaper: Shroud Knight, Shivers of Dread, Cold Shoulder
Not forced to take Greatsword.
Chronomancer: Time Splitter, Flow of Time, Time Marches On
Not forced to take Shield.
Tempest: Singularity, Speedy Conduit, Hardy Conduit
Not forced to take Warhorn.
Daredevil: Enforcer Training, Driven Fortitude, Endurance Thief
Not forced to take Staff.
Berserker: Primal Rage, Always Angry, Fatal Frenzy
Not forced to take Torch.
Herald: Crystal Harbinger, Vigorous Persistence, Envoy of Sustenance
Not forced to take Shield.
Dragonhunter: Virtuous Action, Defender’s Dogma, Pure of Sight
Pure of Sight – Deal bonus damage to enemies beyond the range threshold.(600 range)
Forced to take Longbow.

Forced to take Longbow
If I want New Virtues or Utilities, then I must take Dragonhunter spec.
If I take Dragonhunter spec, I must take it’s Minor traits, which includes Pure of Sight.
If I take Pure of Sight, I must take a Longbow or Scepter otherwise I effectively lost a Minor trait.
If I take Scepter, I cannot hit anything beyond 600 range.

Therefore I am forced to use Longbow or lose a Minor trait.

Dragonhunter is the only Elite spec that is forced into the new weapon(or have a Minor trait that does nothing).

Why?

Your not totaly forced, scepter, and staff 2+3, shoot further than 600.

However, I agree that they should swap that with whichever grandmaster, or major selectable that makes the most sense.

yeah your not forced as broken glass said scepter and staff have skills that are further then 600, you also have the option of throwing symbols and traps down and running away.
by your logic reaper is forced to use chill, they have traits that work off it and by not taking it those are somewhat useless, theres tons of minor traits that you need to be speced into.
