I’m now 30 minutes into my second attempt at the last personal story chapter. No doubt I’ll be fighting in my lingerie soon.

The first attempt took 5 hours before I gave up out of shear fatigue.

ANET, you didn’t give clear indications of what to do. The unavoidable kill in the third phase… My guildies tell me that a weird voodoo proceedure will allow me to get clear instead of being simply flattened. I’m hoping that’s the truth.

If it was ANET’s goal to leave players openly swearing with rage, I’d say this was a huge success.

Really? It got me the first time but after that first death, and a second death from a glitch where a portal was out in thin air causing me to fall to my doom, I found it pretty straightforward.

The continuously getting interrupted got annoying, though, when the swarms started coming at me, that’s for sure.

UPDATE: 1 hour and 6 minutes into the story;

Here’s a sample of my combat log, after a 4rth fail against Blighted Canach. I am a fully unlocked chronomancer. All armor and trinkets are Ascended quality. My Chronomancer shield is my worst weapon, an exotic. The greatsword is Ascended. ( skinned as Belinda’s Greatsword, appropriately )

I spent 22 minutes hitting Blighted Canach with the story shield only to be killed when he was nearly down.

There is definitely something not right here.

I never really died during blighted canach. He did hit me quit a bit but I just survived enough to use my heal skill when I needed.

Use the speed boost mushrooms in the room. Makes it easy easier to dodge his shenanigans. The jungle provides

Mind you I WAS Necromancer….but I was never forced into shroud so my high health pool didn’t have much to do with it.

Who knew the Jungle was filled with so much Salt water?!

Look at the DPS, my Illusions are doing damage a level 1 character would be ashamed of and I’m doing none at all, except indirectly through bleeding.

What really. 5 hours? I soloed that with an ele in full apocthacary lol. Like seriously it’s not that hard. The mechanics are simple enough to follow

I did have trouble on what to do with the “powerful” charge up attack. But that’s so easy now I know what to do. Only issue I have is the bug were a portal is on the outside of the map >< forcing me to reset.

Other than that the dianamic dialog from your team explains what to do for each phase.

As for phase 3 didn’t you notice the vortex’s you can jump into to shoot into the air to pull out your glider…? Listen to dialog your team says shield or get somewhere high (I.e glide) that’s how I done it.

UPDATE: 2 hours into the story, down to my panties.. just in leroy mode now, getting downed every few seconds by the pale tree. I don’t honestly believe at this point that there is a logical or effective method of doing this fight.

Yes, but Mordremoth leashes me every time, making it impossible to go anywhere. I simply get to stand there and watch myself die.

Find a group and do it if you are having that much trouble. Or you could also watch a youtube video of how it is done. Biggest issue I had was getting in the air during the big attack phase (sometimes the updrafts just wouldn’t work). But other than that, pretty straight forward fight.

I’m not interested in running it with a group. This game isn’t about zerg farming. At least it shouldn’t be.

you’re best of leaving to repair after you break something, but can I suggest taking Caithe & Brahmn next time you go in, Eir is super easy, just kill garm and zerg down Eir. As for the pale tree you need to kill the illusions that wander towards her when she goes immune otherwise she does some absurd damage.

As for morde himself, the only phase you should watch out for is the one when your allys call for you to get airborne or hide near your party. (I would suggest just hiding near your NPC buddys.) After those phases it’s pretty straight foward.

Mordys massive aoe phase should barely touch you if there aren’t bugs in play. First time he hit it he downed me (impressive since I have nearly 35k health) and Caithe immediately rezzed me. 2nd time, I saw the updrafts and never got hit again.

Can’t comment on Canach as he wasn;t one of my bosses.

There are bugs in play though – I was lucky not to get any, but plenty of threads are showing where they are and the problems being caused.

For the Canach fight, ditch the shield and just whack him with a weapon until he dies. I ping-ponged grenades with him for five minutes, got bored, and mowed him down with meteor shower and ice-bow. The shield does NOTHING to make that fight any easier.
On the upside, my third attempt at soloing Eir bugged, too (after dying at my first attempt and having her insta-revive Garm at my second attempt), and she just stood there doing nothing while I whittled away at her health bar. I think I accidentally downed Garm behind two vines at the edge of the “arena” while I mistformed away from him and she couldn’t reach him. Eh, I’ll take it as compensation for the awful, awful Mordremoth fight.

For said final fight, you shouldn’t be immobilised in the gliding phase. You die quickly when you stay on the ground, but you should be able to move. Dodging toward the updrafts helped me.
All in all, I tried for over two hours, got TWO bug-free fights, one pretty early on, but I didn’t realise those weird-looking things were updrafts (I kept looking for them beside the platform, which of course reset the whole thing -.-), and when I finally got the second bug-free attempt, I finished the chapter.

The bugs make this fight WAY harder than the actual enemies >.> That fight is a broken mess, and I’ll wait with my other characters until those bugs are fixed. My blood pressure was through the roof last night…

(I would suggest just hiding near your NPC buddys.)

That didn’t work for me. It’s either bugged (one way or the other), or you’re always supposed to glide around until the phase is over.

UPDATE: 3 hours 8 minutes into the story. I finally broke down and paid to win, buying repair kits from Black Lion. Still trying to get through The Pale tree after coming close several times.

It shouldn’t need to be mentioned by now.. ANET you have a very unhappy customer in me after 8 hours in total trying to get through this.

It take’s like 5 minutes to get to the boss fight stage again, why didn’t you just quit and retry?

Was it a great Story? definitely yes.

I’d expect someone in mostly ascended armor to finish this without difficulty, unless you get the bug that spawns the rift in mid air.

What is making you take so long? Do you not understand the mechanics of the fights?

No.

I couldn’t defeat Mordremoth!!!! (
First I got a Canach bug, where the “bad one” would simple go invulnerable. Had do to die a few times to make it work. Then the final fight. Rifts would spawn where I couldn’t reach them, that happened like every other rift… and when in air gliding every rock he would throw hit me!! After a lot of attempts I decided to quit for today. Is not worth it for now

I don’t really understand how it’s taking that long. But if you’re really having that much trouble, have you considered LF’ing outside the instance entrance for a second(third, fourth, or fifth) player?

They stated earlier in the thread they wanted to do it solo and not in a group. I can empathise with that, at least for the first run through.

They want to solo it, as the epic boss fight it’s supposed to be.

What makes it take so long is a metric kitten -ton of bugs that can break the fight even when the boss is almost in the last phase, making a restart necessary.

“Lkitten”? Really? The filter censors censored “swear words”? That aren’t even swear words?^^

I guess I’m lucky. I was able to solo the final chapter on my first attempt and I didn’t feel like it took an extraordinary amount of time. Maybe it has something to do with being able to burn through breakbars pretty fast on Scapper. Canach did take long. I used my supply crate to provide damage to him while I was playing ping pong with the bombs. Eventually I ditched the shield.
