Yeah, I can’t play at 3am but I may get up and start patching so I can play as soon as I get home from work (and install the half dozen patches that came out during the day :P

That’s pretty awesome to launch that early.

- If there will be a server downtime before HoT goes live ?
- When ca we start downloading the patch ? (a while before content is unlocked ? during downtime if there is one ? at 12:01pst without time to pre-download ?)
- When will full patch notes be released ? Can we read them during download, or during downtime if there is one ?

I’m in France so release is at 9:01am. I’ll take afternoon off work, but depending on the answers to other questions I may take the full day. (for example if download starts on release time, I’ll just start download before going to work for the morning, but if there is a downtime or a pre-download time, I’ll get up in the night to start download and take full day off to start playing on Minute One)

I bought HoT but didn’t want to spoil myself so haven’t actually logged in.

Fractal levels are different from character levels. There is no max character level increase with HoT, nor will there ever be in GW2. 80 is max, progression beyond that does not take the form of increasing the character level but mastery level.

a) They have repeated countless times that the max level DOES NOT change with HoT. It’s still 80.

b) 100 is a fractal difficulty level, it has nothing to do with your character’s level

c) HoT is not released yet, you didn’t just “buy” it, you “pre-bought” it. In other words, there is no reason to avoid logging in just to not “spoil” yourself. If you want to minimize spoilers and discover a maximum of things, avoid forums, don’t read or watch Anet’s announcements (the amount of details we got over 1 year leaves no place for discovery …), and maybe close the ingame chat channels (guild and map). But you can play the base game all you want :-)

I think you may have misunderstood. Fractal reward level will increase from 50 to 100. Personal level or experience level will stay at 80 with additional ‘beyond/progression’ levels via masteries.

I don’t foresee getting anything done on the 23rd either, honestly. I’m not taking the day off mainly because I can use place of employment’s net to patch the game much more effectively, but I also suspect we’ll have lots of hot fixes the same day. So I’ll just have an unproductive Friday shrug Not like that hasn’t ever happened before lol.

Turns out I’ve landed in exactly the right game for me.

In the final minutes of the countdown to launch, we’d like to invite all of you to join us live on the stream for a champagne toast with our dev team as we “press the button” and launch Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns live.

Sorry but it will be 9.00 AM in Europe so I won’t feel like sharing a champagne toast as my breakfast. Can I have a coffee instead ?
