This post is going to be semi-long. It was an ordeal. I’m typing it while a bit frustrated, but hopefully these bugs can be looked at, recreated, etc.

I’ve spent the last two hours trying to do this with a friend. We’ve encountered, in that time, an amount of bugs that had us completely confused as to if this fight had even been tested.

Attempt one: Canach mini-boss went full immortal. Canach ally ran out of HP and refused to block more grenades. We had to restart the whole dungeon because we could not move past him.

Attempt two: We decide to take Caithe and Braham. We get through both bosses and to Mord. All is going well. We get to the glide above the rocks phase and my friend dies, only to end up trapped in a room with invisible walls and no way back to the fight. I finish the fight on my own for another ten minutes only for Mord to be unfinisheable at the VERY end. We have to restart. From the beginning. Again.

Attempt three: Same thing, except this time my friend is in the invisible-walls-room and I try to suicide to reset the fight. Except she’s still stuck up there with no way down and I can’t even release my body. We restart from the beginning again.

Attempts four-X? (i lost count): The game really lost its mind on this one. We get through the first parts just fine. The mini bosses just fine. We’re on Mord again. We get to the final phase, defend against the mobs, use the reality rift… and. Mord is stuck in immortal state. We are losing our minds and decide to suicide, hoping that we won’t be stuck in the invisible-walls-room. Success! The room appears to work as intended and lets us restart the fight. Only this time the glider part won’t work as the winds won’t take my friend up. We die again and reset the fight to the Mord encounter. Except something else is wrong now. He’s using attacks even during the times he should be standing still for the reality rift. It’s like hard-mode Mord going all final phase on us during the earlier portions of the fight. It’s okay. We’re still able to get through the fight.. until THIS.

Yes. The reality rift. It..it spawned.. in the air. We couldn’t reach it. This is two hours after starting this final story step. At this point we have decided to just try to do this story step on our own. Maybe these bugs are related to having two people attempting the story step together.

Edit: I wrote this pretty quickly so if there are any parts that could use clearing up, please let me know.

P.S. I have really enjoyed the story and new mechanics in the expansion so far. This may be leaving a sour taste in my mouth but I am overall pretty happy with the last few days of playing!

Edit 2: We finally beat it! I’m not even fully sure how! I think we got a bit lucky because we were still doing it with bugs and “hard-mode” and all, but I’m happy either way!

Doing this in a group and doing it solo seems to produce the same bugs to me.

Most people seem to die during the “take to the skies” phase, because the currents don’t boost you into the air and you just die (the shields don’t protect you either)

The important part is: when you die, mordy will start the fight again with all the powers he was using right up until you died, however, as you progress through the fight, you gain buffs to counter the increasing difficulty, but when you restart, you don’t have the buffs but you have to face off against crazy-mode mordy right from the begining.

Also, dying in a group locks you out of the fight yes, my group of 5 made it all the way to the end, mordy was standing there doing nothing and the 1 surviving member (the rest of us died to not being able to fly) could not finish him off as his break bar regenerated too fast, he suicided and we restarted.

Right off the bat mordy summoned his mordrem army adds and appeared…with a break bar, and the final reality rift, so we kept him stunned and clicked the rift, he died before Marjory even came out.

Edit: I also encountered the fall-away floor not coming back after the first restart, and falling to my death trying to reach the rift floating in the air (Braham seemed to be standing on the air just fine though)

Another bug that might happens a lot if you play condis are the illusions dying from the damage before you can suck them into the rift, bugging the entire fight and forcing you to die and restart.

Yes, the part where you have to fly or shield yourself is waaaay buggy and if you die on this part the bugs get progressively worse for every death. Things like being perma-pulled/knocked down when nothing is around you, summoned mobs randomly resetting, Caithe (i chose Caithe and Braum) randomly vanishing and resetting. Disappearing platforms, Mord attacking with everything he has from the start, constant interrupts when trying to open portals….the list goes on. If i manage to get in the air after all this, the shooting eye things knock me out as soon as i start to ascend…..not to mention the boulders afterwards. Once i fall it is impossible to get back up again.

This would be massively frustrating for 2-3 players, let alone trying to do it solo. After breaking my armor twice I logged and decided maybe i could RnG a non-buggy fight tomorrow.

P.S. I think this encounter received as much testing as the “new” Daredevil spec….(random QQ) =P

Just soloed him after about 10 ish attempts?

Had the standard invisible bugs, mid air spawnings, etc.

But I got it done. Mesmers have some advantages this fight with Illusions being able to keep up DPS during certain phases and distracting the boss.

At least you guys got that far- I main standard Ele and spent an hour trying to fight Eir… It ended with me logging out because I had only gotten about 2% of health done. It was definitely a difficulty spike to infinity since I had no problems until that :|

Just gonna paste this here.

HOLY HELL.
I just had the MOST BUGGY run of this thing I’ve EVER seen of ANY MMO.
OMG.
Like NO ONE freaking tested this.

So we got to the final boss of it, in my group of 4 without a hitch.
2 people died around 50% and it was just me (chronomancer) and a dragonhunter (I think that’s what he was)
We’re at the last “TAKE TO THE SKIES” attack and of course the dragon hunter died because he didn’t get lifted in the air to glide.
I made it, thankfully, and got him down to the defend, interrupt, and burn phase.
I managed to defend Canach enough to open the rift, and I tried my kitten edest to break the break bar.
Let me tell you, after 3 tries, it took me 3 clone spawn + continuum split + 3 more clones + diversion + tides of time + 3 more clones + another diversion + illusionary wave + ANOTHER tides of time to manage to break him, and after that I couldn’t do even a percent of damage in the window he was “vulnerable” And my npc companions didn’t do jack kitten to help either :T

So I had to suicide and retry.
And this is where kitten gets fun.

MORDY IS STILL IN HIS BREAK PHASE.
He spawns Rytlock as soon as he’s stunned (which is like 3 seconds after we spawned back in, because kitten him throw the cc) and we open the portal to him while Mordy is still figuring out wtf he’s supposed to do.
Then the horde of trash shows up to assault Canach, and Mordy goes from 100% hp to his final phase hp %.
As that happens, Mordy spawns Jory and we let her hang out for a bit, because Canach has opened the rift, and we thusly pop it.
Keep in mind, this is like 45 seconds into the second try.
As we approach Mordy to stun him forreal this time my sylvari character is acting like Canach broke her out of the Mordy Mind Control™ while Canach is being all buddy buddy about it. (Thank god I didn’t actually go into that mind-controlled mode that time)
We stun him for good this time, and absolutely melt his remaining hp and I hit the final spike.
Hooray we did it and then we get to put Trahearn out of our misery as planned.

And I tell you what, I’ve never seen game content to go from “frustratingly buggy” to “hilariously glitched” as fast as that. I was so ready to trudge through that whole long-kitten fight and unblight all those npcs all over again. But then we stunned him from 100% to 10% and I still can’t stop laughing.

kittening hell.

Also, in the run I posted about above this post, yeah, when I died because I didn’t get shot in the air, I tried to retry the fight, but unfortunately the platforms to the sides didn’t regenerate and Braham was left groping at the portal in mid air. No I couldn’t walk on an invisible collider, I tried.

With this chapter’s abruptness and bugginess, on top of the previous needless grind to itzel 4, it’s blatantly obvious that arenanet ran out of time/money on this expansion.

was doing it as a group of two..

one time the ground for the rift was missing
one time the updrafts for the aoe weren’t working
at the end you can’t kill the boss if the person who opened the instance is in the respawn room..

had to start over countless times. oh and the walls on the spiral from the 15th story had no colliders so we were able to walk through them lol.

yep he keeps all his abilities, so the fight is literally impossible if you fail toward the end and attempt to retry. every ability was active at once so i wasn’t able to channel the rift without getting interrupted because i didn’t retain my immunities to said abilities.

also his break bar is permanently “broken” so it is never able to be broken to trigger the bonus damage (which i assume is what was intended). so by myself i spend 10 minutes getting him to 25% only to fail because .2 seconds after i start gliding i get hit by a rock or something, fall, run to braham’s shield for safety only to find that not only does his shield not protect me, the air jet next to him doesn’t work, and the npcs won’t res me from downed state.

not to mention every time you do retry, you have to keep suiciding until you get a retry where the platforms actually respawn, otherwise the stupid thing you need to click on is floating in midair.

I could probably keep doing the encounter over and over and eventually get a relatively bug free run (there are bugs on the first 2 fights too, but they didn’t completely stop my progress), but kitten it. I don’t even care at this point. gg.

Sooooooo many bugs …

5 attempts, 5+ different bugs.

No ground under rift, no reset after death, boss wont take damage, rift wont activate, no glider on the jump part, teammates wont attack anything and stand there like lemons.

Wont be trying that again anytime soon.

Attempt one: Canach mini-boss went full immortal. Canach ally ran out of HP and refused to block more grenades. We had to restart the whole dungeon because we could not move past him.

You did try to grab Canach’s shield from him and bounce the grenades back until his invulnerability buff goes?

The only bug I have run into doing this was with 2 people. The other person died during the end fight just before the final part. I killed all of the mob spawns then tried to operate the rift. Rift didn’t take down Mordy’s bar fully. He went into sulk mode and became unresponsive. No more mobs spawned so instance was stuck. Eventually I suicided and we restarted Mordy.

Got to the first flight bit and instead of having to fly it went straight back to the mobs spawning, with Mordremoth’s health back down to where it had been during the first attempt. We killed the mobs operated the rift and killed Mordy. I picked up the achievement for not getting hit while flying too.

I have done the end fight solo several times without any problems.

no glider on the jump part,

I found that running into the updraft without jumping was far more successful than trying to jump. The updraft shoved me up and I just opened the glider.
