Oooo…how exciting! I wonder what the announcement at Gamescon will be!

I’m looking forward to BWE1, and BWE2 (confirmed). Also, want to explore the new Map Rewards feature, and see how that works, as well as Elite Specializations and Masteries.

Finally we can test specialization, that’s good.

I am pretty excited for this.

My only issue is this… can we or can we not ‘rep’ our guild on our beta characters? That’s the sole reason I got turned off when they allowed us to play Revenant a few weeks back.

I also suppose our main characters won’t be allowed into the Brink either?

Pretty sure it indicates Beta characters only. Probably no Guild or live Bank/TP interaction. That would not be fair.

Hopefully, but I don’t think we’ll see it before October. Well, we’ve already waited 8 months, so 2 more won’t change a lot, as long as the game is complete (I’m looking at you, Zhaitan fight!)

I, too, thought that when I read that, but maybe they didn’t mean it like that? it sure sounds like it to me!

Only thing I’m looking forward to trying is the Map Reward System. Might give dragonhunter/reaper a try, but thats about it. Will try the verdant brink events again, but I’m not sure it’ll keep me there for long.

This announcement also implies that there are no more elite spec releases by at least Aug 10th.

I’m a bit sad to only have one slot. Now I have to choose whether to test one thing and advance its masteries enough to give feedback on higher tiers, or to smorgasbord the start of multiple things.

I think I’m leaning to testing Chronomancer in as much depth as I can.

You have Revenant, Chronomancer, DH, Reaper and Tempest. 5 new and diverse sources of fun. We’ll have to let one of them behind. Sounds fair to me.

I’ll just test DH and Tempest and decide who of them will have to wait until HoT release.

Ah, but with four slots it seems reasonable to use at least one of them to cycle some alts so as to test out more professions along with race combos — new voice acting, woo! I’m so glad I will be able to spend most of my time that weekend on this (though man, I also want to watch the GamesCon streams).

Now I just have to defeat the creeping crud that is slurping into my system so I’m not dreadfully ill next week. Today a sore throat, tomorrow a fever no doubt ….

I am so testing the Reaper, I need to know if it’s an improvement on the Necro. I truly hope this is the case but I’m not holding my breath after hearing of the nerfs to chill and certainly jaded today due to Necro issues that have existed for so long.

I think the important part is that they asked some specific questions they want feedback on. That will help people answer the questions they are most concerned with

While the revelation of four character slots might invalidate this a bit, remember, Masteries are account-bound. Even if we only had the one beta character slot and had to delete/restart it to try different things, the earned Masteries would be carried over.

Xiahou Mao, you are so right. My brain just isn’t tracking right now (incipient illness sucks). Well that just means even happier alt-hopping to try out the same content with various elites to compare their effectiveness.

I do imagine that each new alt will have to go through the SW battle story to continue into the HoT lands, but I could be wrong there.

You can test them all! You just have to delete one and start another.

Non-prepurchasers will only be able to play Stronghold, and then only with Turai Ossa as their hero. The rest of the beta content will be unavailable.

I am super excited for this! Could have been a little bit sooner imo, but hey I’d say that the amount of content we get to play around with more than makes up for that!

man, excited about this for sure, only one downfall…. we are rehashing same old corner of the map again. I know they want to keep the surprise and all, but i think it would increase more testing if they moved to a different 25% of the map. While I will be testing the same map for a little while, eventually I will get bored of it and move to some of the older maps to see what happens there… now that I think on it… thats probly exactly what they want… Well played Anet… well… played….

When will you release the other elite specializations? Keep in mind that the longer you wait, the less time you have to gather feedback and balance properly. Especially the Ranger specialization will need a closer look, since the pet is also a huge factor to consider.

My revenant thanks you. My Tempest thanks you. My Reaper thanks you! My Chronomancer thanks you! My Dragonhunter would thank you, but will probably be deleted to be rerolled into my Chronomancer. (it would have been the other way around if the Chronomancer hadn’t travelled back in time to change my mind…)

Before the beta might be a good time to move ascended armor, trinkets and weapons into your bank for your beta char(s) to use. They’ll get copied and you’ll have your full set to play with.

The 11th will be the soonest Tuesday (their typical info-dump day) after the beta. The beta will feature all of the currently announced elite specs. It would be fairly odd timing for them to announce and hype up a new elite spec, and then immediately have a beta featuring the other ones, but not it.
I didn’t say it was impossible, I just find it unlikely and odd, thus the reason I opened my phrase with “I guess”.

Again why can’t they reveal an elite spec next week did a dev say they aren’t revealing an elite spec no remember Anet like to suprise us just don’t give up hope.

I look forward to playing Revenant with the addition of weapon swap and Shiro. Also looking forward to playing Chronomancer, and perhaps a bit of Dragonhunter’s longbow skills. Probably won’t bother with Tempest and Reaper.

Probably, as well as marketing, because of all the threads/posts where people have stated they wanted information more readily available about certain features/events, etc., like the upcoming BWE1. There’s always calls for more information put in-game, so this pretty much kills two birds with one stone. /shrug

I’m so happy I pre-purchased HoT last night.
