I finally hit 80, and I am really hoping I am missing something. I want to do the story missions in order to avoid spoilers, but that is apparently keeping me from unlocking Masteries. I think it is stupid that I have to jump ahead to unlock a game mechanic, but whatever. I can live without them until I get to that point in the story. Maybe there is even some logical reason to block them before that point.

However, now I have maxed out my Mastery bar at the bottom and EVERY time I would get XP, a stupid pop-up tells me, “Your current ability is fully trained and ready to master!” The repetitive hint is really annoying me, AND I feel like I am wasting XP. Is there any way to turn this tip off (or just turn them all off) until I am ready to actually progress the story to that point? I have searched for an answer, but if it is out there, I am just not seeing it

If I remember right you unlock masteries very early on when you enter Verdant Brink. Forgot the name of the quest. Torn from the sky i believe. Sounds like you filled up the xp bar from the core tyria masteries if you haven’t started hot yet. You will only earn xp from maguuma masteries when in hot zones. And likewise you will only ear xp for core tyria masteries while in core tyria (meaning non hot maps).

So if I were you I’d get going on the hot quest line. This way you can go to the mastery menu and use your mastery points for core tyria so you can start earning xp towards your next mastery skill.

You don’t unlock your masteries by advancing the story. You could in unlock all of your masteries and then complete the story if you want.

When you XP bar is full, you need to spend mastery points to unlock the mastery. You have two type of points, one for Tyria(orange) to unlock mastery for Tyria and Magguma(Green) to unlock masteries for Magguma.

If you look at your achievement screen, you gonna see either orange or green star, they show you which achievement give you which type of mastery point.

Once your xp bar is full and you have enough point, you can unlock the mastery by clicking on it.

Maizan – I went in to one of the HoT area, and saw main-story spoilers in the opening cinematic. Really starting to get ticked off by this, but regardless, thank you for the attempted assist.

Thaddeus – When this pop-up appears after every kill, it says I am ready to train. I click on it and it says Masteries are locked until I do a specific mission. The wiki tells me this the second mission in the chain. I don’t see a way to make this go away without doing some story quests in Magguma.

I do not want to unlock Masteries! I don’t even care about the wasted XP any more! I just want to make this stupid tool-tip go away, so I can play through the rest of the stories at my own pace! I was trying to do the whole thing with friends, and we have to match our schedules to run dungeons and the like. Please please, someone just tell me how to make the pop-up stop!

Whelp, Nevermind. Found another thread on this issue finally. Seems this has been a problem for some time, and there is no “fix” since this garbage is apparently working as intended.

Shalmdi-maybe I’m just misunderstanding you original post. It seems like you want to go through the main quest line for hot but are annoyed by the mastery prompt. Since the mission to start earning mastery points is tied to the main quest line why nor just go through until you unlock it anyway then spend the point on whatever then just forget about it? Seems like it’s going to be the only likely solution go the problem.

No I think OP is still doing core story and maxed out exp and dont want to get spoiled by doing first 2 hot stories to unlock mastery progression.
