This one is more towards the devs unless I’m missing something extremely vital. But what is with the OVERLY EXCESSIVE use of flax with almost every aspect of the new content both guild halls and scribing? I mean, they introduced a lot of new materials but it seems everything revolves around flax and linseed oil. Just for the guild hall upgrades alone you need 45,000 flax seed. Then on top of it, it’s an essential part of the scribing crafting discipline as well? Couldn’t they have spread out the materials required a little better?

Don’t forget coarse sand. It is really silly. I very rarely complain about stuff in GW2 but this is yes the worst thing they have ever done. Atleast flax can be harvested while playing new maps… Coarse sand can be aquired from maps that you have allready played and well… If I had gotten Coarse sand while playing these maps long ago I would have millions but now we don’t so… Ha Ha to us.

I’ve been reduced to daily flax seed farming across all my alts to get my guild hall upgrades.

The demand in both coarse sand and flax for the guild hall upgrades is too kitten high. And that’s even for a full guild harvesting either.

Yea sucks that all of us who already played dry top to death are forced to re-visit it to farm for stuff in new content just to make the place not look like a dead zone for new players.

One as well in WvW in the new desert borderlands. Best part about WvW is the loot spawns at your feed so you don’t have to run up to the mob when it’s dead (if you are ranged and don’t have auto loot mastry).

for me the tough part is the coarse sand… trying to find a better place then drytop to get the silly sand etc… whats a good place other then that?

In VB, there’s a spot west of the pits adventure. It’s where you start the escort event for the Doctor NPC during the Pact Encampment meta. From the shrouded ruins WP, go west and then take a left up the stairs away from where the bomb event is for the Pale Reaver meta that opens up access.

See, I was wondering why in the world I was seeing more LFG Silverwastes listings currently… Then I found out about the coarse sand.

I have all my alts farming flax also.

It’s kind of ridiculous, really. The amount they get won’t even be a drop in the bucket. I should bring my 4 level 20s there also to farm.
