It is what NCSoft is projecting for the future in revenue. They projecting that the expansion will release during the 3rd quarter 2015, so between July through September.

If that’s accurate, as far as speculation, it makes me nervous as hell. Have they even beta tested it yet? I understand the natives are restless as far as getting the product, but is six months enough time to work out and polish all the kinks? Again, how much content are we talking?

And what is smack in the middle of the 3rd quarter…

Well going by Anets MO for releasing information, when they made the announcment I am sure they were already well into the beta testing phase. That would be a nice clue. Just one problem, that article wasn’t written by NCsoft, It was written by an outside investment firm. Maybe you are right OP, but kdbdw doesn’t have any insight and are simply speculating. They have been talking about an expansion since 2013, that should give you an idea of how wrong they have been.

Also you people don’t seem to understand the purpose of this beta, it really isn’t to actaully test stuff but use it as a marketing event. The information release is too far way for it to be release in august. It is more likely it will be release in april 28.

That isn’t NCsoft report but an outside firm known to be wrong for the past 3 years about an expansion. Guild war 2 hot could be release between a few weeks and infinity.

That would actually be nice considering the size of this expansion does seem quite small and they have been working on this for a while in secret.

I don’t think this is true. I think the product is close to being ready. I’d say May should be like the furthest date considering Beta is right after PAX East.

That would be better I think im going to skip the beta though this time cause I dont want to blow through everything and be burned out when the expansion is out.

Public beta tests for the original launch began in April of 2012, if they begin around then again, anothe mid Q3 release is likely

In 2013 they did make the statement about releasing the expansion that year, but that was said after the CEO of NCsoft talked about an expansion for Guild Wars 2 in an earning calls. They made no such statement in 2012. So what he have here is 2013 they talked about the expansion after the CEO of NCsoft talked about it, and then in 2014 they talked about an expansion to release in 2015. Not their fault the CEO of NCsoft gave the wrong information in 2013.

they have beta testers for sure.

They have internal testing and they will have a selected beta test. I don’t think the will have an open beta of this expansion.

What if it’s already released? But only 1 new player a day gets to download and play it and if they talk they lose their account? What if every day since it was announced there is someone new able to play it. That would be like 30 people playing HoT right now! When will we get to play? The horror…. The horror!

And? It shows that they are not only guessing, but aren’t exactly better at it than we are. This can’t be seriously considered a “clue” to HoT release date, much less an “official projection”. By NCSoft at that…

You are assuming that it is actually testing and not simply a glorified preview.

I don’t mind it being released during Q3, yet, we’ve been announced lack of substantial updates between now and HoT release. That would be a bad move in my opinion. After all, the Pact fleet was just defeated… Just… Right now but 6 months ago anyway. That breaks any immersion attempt…

I really do hope that they have already been testing the game (after all, the playable demo is already available to them), and the last round they’ll need is players to test the game. My opinion (and somehow wish) is that the playable demo will be tested in March and a beta will follow from mid-March to end of April, for the 10 years of the franchise, and the game might be released soon after…

Might I add that GW1 was released on April 28th 2005, and that April 28th 2015 is… Tuesday, patch day! (Half-Life 3 conf… Wait nevermind)

If they wait until August, I certainly hope they’ll give a bone to chew on, because waiting 6 months for the rest of a story that already took plenty of time is a bit “dangerous”…

You are assuming that it is actually testing and not simply a glorified preview.

Safe assumption. They obviously have an internal testing team, but they haven’t really gotten a large portion of the community to play through it and give feedback. The only way to get feedback is to have open beta events, and as many of them as necessary. They need to know that the systems they’ve designed will be well received by the majority of the community. 6 weeks is too short for that.

If the expansion is indeed fully complete and no longer requires community feedback to make certain changes (unlikely), I’d be obviously over the moon. I’d rather be realistic though.

I think the date around May might be optimistic. In stores there is already pre-order with a release date of May….just saying

That’s because stores make wild guesses because they can’t take pre-order money without a date in their system. They don’t speak for or control ANet, and if the release date comes later they’ll just shrug and you can get a refund or just wait for release with your guaranteed box.

Me, I see no reason to pre-order something that doesn’t exist yet. Once there’s a date and they announce any CE contents, then is the time to pounce and order. Otherwise you don’t even know if you’ve ordered the version you’ll end up wanting.

Just as a piece of information: Beta is already available, according to PoI. They’re showing the beta version… I assume the game is more complete that we expect! I’m praying the Gods for a release happening in April <3

Yeah, that’s when I reckon it’s going to release, late April-start of May. Considering the living story is on hold until it’s released I don’t think they can wait much longer than that.

On topic though, that’s the same thing that’s been posted for months and as stated before, it’s not from NCsoft and they’ve been calling “expansion incoming” for ages.
