I will play a game until I find a reason to quit. In some cases, it’s due to random numbers forcing a retry too many times. In the case of GW2, I am stopping due to the personal story requiring too many retries. And completing the personal story lines are needed for mastery points. In my opinion, a personal story is personal, not a group story. I counted a lot of personal deaths. A lot. I just can’t relate to a dead character moving around like a risen. Wasn’t sure where to communicate this feedback, so put it right in the forum.

it used to be people played games until they found it boring then mvoed on, nowadays there is always something to blame instead, its an ownership thing.

You’re dying a lot in the personal story?

Maybe wait till you outlevel it then and have better gear if you’re dying so often.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

In my opinion, a personal story is personal, not a group story.

So… you want the support NPCs removed so the story is all about you doing the stuff solo?

I just can’t relate to a dead character moving around like a risen.

You want a hardcore mode where your character is deleted? Technically, you’re only knocked out when you go down.

You need only complete the Core Personal Story once to acquire each and every Mastery Point related. No need to do it over and over. Or, are you referring to the Heart of Thorns story? That’s all L80 content and for the more experienced.

I hope you didn’t use a L80 Booster and try to do the HoT story immediately.

Still, if you find the gameplay too difficult and would rather not accept help, there may be other avenues of entertainment that would serve you better.

Good luck.

Not that it matters, as you’ve apparently made your choice. But which storyline are we talking about here?

I should think the personal storyline you unlock every 10 levels while leveling should be very manageable for nearly all players. There are a few spots where it might get a little dicey if you try to handle it all yourself, but usually in those cases the NPCs will tank a bit (or even handle the entire event) where all you really need to do is sit back, eat popcorn, and stay alive.

If this is the HoT storyline, well there’s no denying it’s a bit of a step up from the personal storyline. But I don’t really see it as any more difficult than LS2 or LS3 content. This is part of what ANet considers “endgame” content (and I imagine many players coming from other MMOs with a “real” endgame get a chuckle from that!). It’s supposed to be challenging and probably, for some players, quite difficult to complete without more than a few retries.

I’m sorry if that wasn’t your cup of tea. However, if you change your mind and need a hand with it, I’d be glad to help. Hit me up in game if you want to take me up on that offer.

I’m sorry you aren’t liking the game, Saxon. Although it’s among my all-time favorites, I can’t imagine it appeals to everyone.

Is it possible, though, that there might be a trick or two that you’re missing, that would make it easier than you think? Can you explain where you’re having trouble — maybe someone here can be of assistance (without doing the instance(s) with you).
