Fractal Rewards in HoT
Some tiny ideas about how fractal rewards should be in my oppinion.
1. I don’t like the fact that you should be able to buy a fractal weapon of your choice. Most of the people only look for 1 skin (for instance sword) and fractals will loose a lot of its charm if you can just buy it for 50 fractal relicts once you’re lvl 50. This can be
compared to the achievement rewards:You can probably enjoy the first 2 weapons you choose, but after the 20th chest you just choose an ugly skin, because you have to in order to get the chest. Also, there’s absolutely no prestige in this. Compare it to the zenith skins. What does it mean if someone has a Zenith-Greatsword. Eyaxtly: that he somehow managed to get 1000 achievement points.
To prevent this, one could have either have a set order in which skins drop (in fractals and from this chest), or have it randomized. But I think as soon as you own a weapon, its drop chance should be set to 0, while the total chance for a skin should stay constant.
A specific order is not good let’s say you want to have a mace and it is the last weapon so you have to gather every weapon that’s a huge effort for just one weapon skin. Random is equally bad because it can end the same way as my previous example.
2. Ring drop chance should be at 0% after frac 50. Even if ascended salvaging gets added to the game. Ring drop chance is atm around 50% depending on level and therefor it will always be a minor drop (i mean a lot of people are already hoarding them because of the announcement, the reward for this cannot be super OP). And everyone knows it getting an (uninfused) ring on frac 50 is just depressing.
I disagree , rings are usefull it’s just that the stats are most of the time useless. So maybe instead of a ring you get a jewelry/ring box which allows you to choose stats.
3. The golden fractal skins should be really, really seldom. The world of Tyria doesn’t need a second Eternity skin…
No, the rng disaster all over.
4. Wow those changes sound awesom!
Wow, much ego.
You think it would somehow take away from the prestige of fractal skins??! Wut!
Explain to me how currently there is prestige surrounding fractal skins that would be damaged come this new change where you can get the skins with fractal relics instead of RNG?
When I see someone with a fractal skin, they can either have run a handful of fotm30+ runs or thousands, it’s all the same. There is no prestige currently other than they were lucky, so there is nothing lost with this change; you still have to play a lot of fractals to get the skins, which is all the skins ever translated to anyhow.
In 500+ fotm runs, I have 4 skins: torch, dagger, pistol, spear. I want GS, 1h, and scepter. This new change will be a godsend.
To me it sounds like you got lucky with your fractal skins and got some good ones and now you don’t want anyone else to have them. I’m sure there are plenty of people with far more runs than you that have never gotten the skin they want. This change is fair.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I got my fractal frequenter and several backpacks thousands of fractal runs ago and thus far I’ve gotten the staff six times, two hammers, the torch, focus, and dagger…
but NO SWORD!
I agree that getting the reward the way it is now feels SO GOOD when it does happen, but dang it I want my sword!

Exactly my point! So the guy who gets a fractal sword in 25 runs is somehow more prestigious according to OP? Poppykitten!
Didn’t they say that you could only buy the fractal skins with relics once you’ve cleared fotm50? If they didn’t, that would be a good minimum, that way you can’t just run a bunch of 1-20s to get skins.

i mean im no collector of fractal skins i have a set of duplicates in my bank but so far im missing the following
Greatsword, Torch, Axe, Dagger, Shortbow, Scepter. (Underwater weapons excluded cause reasons)
That being said like the above poster i have had 6 Focus drops….. and other duplicates including Hammer, Rifle, Sword, Shield etc.
While i think reworking fractals rewards is a fine idea, i think they need to first look at where those items are most useful.

Well any fractal skin is more “prestigious” than all current legendaries combined. Even TA aetherpath skins are more “prestigious”.

For the fact that you shouldn’t be able to buy regular fractal skins, I disagree. As long as they are priced high enough to still be noticed when a person has one, you should not take the choice of what skin someone gets away from them. These will be the lower-tier skins anyway after HoT launches.
However, I agree 100% that the golden skins should be extremely few and far between, even more so than fractal skins are now. I want to look at them and think ‘wow, that person has run a LOT of high level fractals’. I know technically they could get one every run, even at a 0.1% drop rate, but if that is not seen as an exclusive and prestigious skin set for that reason alone, the same could be said about practically every single skin in the game- someone could just get a few precursor drops in their first month of playing and be able to buy whatever they want. However, this is extremely unlikely so if you get the one you want, you will likely have had to grind high level fractals over and over, a task worthy of a reward very few will actually get.
