I’ve been farming this for months now(as one of my main sources of gold). Mussel nodes refresh every 1hour and i try to gather them 5-6 times a day using 5 characters, and my average pearl gain is 5~7 per day.

For 2 days now since the PvP balance patch i only got 1, was it nerfed?

I can see “new” mussels node spots(in VB) so i assume it was updated/configured or nerfed?

That sounds more like bad luck than a drop rate change.

If I understand correctly, you were farming 300-400 mussel nodes/day and getting 5-7 pearls. 6/350 = 1.714%. For that rate, the chance of only getting a single pearl is ~1.7%, something that you’d see a few times a year. Seeing it two days in a row doesn’t seem unlikely.

Keep track for a week. If you’re still seeing a low amount, please report back.

To be fair to the OP (if I understood their numbers), it was based off of 300+ gathers. If the drop rate was normally 50%, that would be plenty to suspect an issue; it’s just not enough for pearls dropping from mussels.

Okay, I’ll farm more of these nodes until next week and will check if the drop rate was really changed.
As what i have said i’ve been farming this node for months, so it was just an odd experience since wvw gliding update and i also mentioned i saw “new spots” of mussel nodes in VB so i assumed it was somehow reconfigured.

I think his numbers of 6/350 gathers is rather lucky. Previously when I did tried this farm to gather FreshPearls for myself to make Minstrel gear, I started with 500 gathers to see the rate, then over time kept records of 5000 mussel gathers and came up with a drop rate of just under 1%.

If anything he was punching above his weight before and now it’s just back to normal. I have done 350 gathers before and not got a single pearl.

I said I don’t understand why people writ a “conclusion” thread. I have no trouble understanding why someone would suspect there was an issue.
