Are some of the local jungle frogs allied with Mordremoth? Back during the second beta weekend I encountered a situation where a frog mob had a buff associated with a mordrem guard. I sent a ticket about it thinking it might be a bug. I encountered the situation again in beta weekend three (but no screen shot this time), and so now I’m curious.

Is this a quirk of the system or something deeper?

I think it would be interesting if some of the hylek see Modremoth as Ameyalli or at least as a herald of Ameyalli.

Other than that, I think it is likely that there will be mordrem hylek (especially since the jungle hylek tend to burn their fallen dead, probably to keep Modremoth from using the bodies).

I think those Hylek are just aggressive towards people, and are not actually fighting for Mordy himself. It might have just been a bug maybe?

During the last BWE, I noticed that during a few nightime events, the hostile hylek attacking outposts had “Mordrem Xocotl” tags over them. (Or maybe it was just mordrem hylek, I don’t recall for sure).

So I wondered about that too, whether we had run into something like the Toxic Alliance.

The Mordrem ones are corrupted. That’s also why they have different textures. Mordremoth actually does have the ability to corrupt living animals somehow though none of the events/lore I encountered in the BWEs explained why he doesn’t do it more or how it works.
