You don’t need a guild hall to experience the core content in HoT.
It’s just a little perk in a game where you don’t have to pay a monthly subscription.
and why the rush?
lay back, create a fun and cosy guild environment – then it will all work out in the end

Mega guilds will now become Walmart. Killing off any mom and pop guilds because the quantity of donation capacity.

It is certainly easier for them, what we run into in our guild of two dozen, is everyone wants, but no one wants to work.

Do they even want little guilds?

My guild consists of 15-20 active accounts. Our Guild hall is level 18 already. We put no pressure on anyone to donate, or participate in any activity they don’t want to online.

Yet the donations flow in. People put things in shown in treasury, but also send raw mats to crafters as indicated in Message of The Day.

So my observation of this all is, that this Guild Hall feature in the expansion really shows which guilds are on the same page with their goals, and which guilds are a collection of profit oriented individuals.

There is nothing wrong with being either of these, because after all people can do what they want, and we don’t own their time. But understanding this fact is key to a guild leader preventing one’s self from self-pitying QQ, as it’s all down to the type of people one recruited to fill one’s ranks in the first place.

Our Guildies help out because they want to be part of building up the hall, they are truly there for the guild, and not just themselves.

I find the mats requirements entertaining and humorous personally. The amount of materials is truly a challenge of epic scale (look at the materials needed for a mere Cactus Peppercorn Salad, of which you need 80!!! haha).

The Guild Hall will not break us! At the end of the day quality of players is better than sheer quantity.

Just out of curiosity what are these eventual buffs after all this grinding and contributing. ? Do the eventual buffs actually outweigh the sheer cost of their production?

Removal, nerf, and rollback of all the boosts associated with guild upgrades was really dumb decision…. I thought these things will be grand-fathered, but apparently they got scrapped….they are not even worth to get for all that material costs

I look at things differently.

If I ran a guild with other players in it, I would be even more embarrassed with this situation, if they all were donating freely.

It would be nice of them that they would do that, but that isn’t what they should have to do.

Gold/mats = real money, in this game.

Therefore, it just feels especially wrong that people are expected to contribute in that way, as opposed to just contributing, by default, by playing normally.

In fact, I would have gone the other way, if anything and made it so all the guilds a person was a member of benefitted from them playing normally, whether they were representing them, at the time, or not.

This has just gone so far in the wrong direction that I struggle to even find words to describe how I feel about it.

Embarrassed is probably the nearest word I can find, because I’m embarrassed to be playing a game in which this is now a thing.

I guess you missed the Guild CDI. Anet want people to intentionally contribute to the growth of the guild instead of just passively contribute to the growth of the guild. Intentionally and passively are very very different. This is not even consider a step backward but rather, people are given the opportunity to directly impact the growth of their guilds. Naturally, people who will want to contribute to the growth of that guild are the people who care enough to take that step. At the end of the day, no matter how much your guild leader “beg”, only those who care will donate while those who don’t, will never donate.

Yes, I understand that and I consider it a massive step backwards and extremely distasteful.

The fact Anet don’t seem to see that, themselves (or don’t care), is concerning in itself.

I don’t think they want small guilds and agree that they are taking the Wal-mart approach.
