I just find it kind of hilarious if people say that they are kittened, because they have to pay the full price for each expansion when it’s included for free after like 2 years.

They basically say “Whenever a player purchases GW2 they have to pay 50$ for the actual existing content. Since I already payed 60$ at launch I deserve to get every single expansion for free, because new players always only pay as much as I used to”

(Nothing personal against you macon, just a general statement)

ya … that’s the problem – expansion is 2 products …when an upgrade is one product – which is what a product becomes when you integrate it like Hot is integrated with the core version. the essence of this confusion is the conflict of perception. -hrmm sounds like a good song title-

Veteran here.

I bought the core expansion.
Wasn’t going to buy the extras because of the prices.

If Anet are going to offer new players incentives to buy the game, thats cool..
it brings more people into the game and makes it worth playing more as there will be a larger player base.

if they want me as a veteran player to spend more to get the same bonuses a new player will get, then they better offer me more incentives..otherwise, I’ll get the core game..and just not care for the other crap they’re peddling.

Personally, I like the game, so want to support it so I can kill random bosses when I’m not studying or at work..
I like the community as it’s better than other games that I won’t mention.
you get on, play the game…kill stuff, and get loot…
People on maps are friendly and helpful, and to me it makes it enjoyable.

They can do better, but that’s what the forums are for, to give feedback to what they propose.

Well, new players don’t get an extra character slot like we do (Or they do, but only if they get the Deluxe or Ultimate packs, where we would get 2 slots instead of their 1). If you consider that they put the core game up for sale for $10, and character slots cost $10, that means you are forgoing the core game in lieu of a character slot and you don’t lose any progress.

Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

I’ve been here since launch so I guess I qualify as a veteran.

Personally, none of this bothers me at all. This is the first F2P game I’ve ever participated in, but the sub games I’ve bothered to play for any length of time I sure don’t remember getting any preferential treatment when expac time hits.

I still paid my X amount to get the sub, and was happy to do so. From what I’ve read it condenses down to, “We paid for the core game so they should too!” stamp foot

Isn’t it good to bring new players in? I for one hope to see a wave of new players from this expac(especially in Bronze. They need them badly down there). Do you kitten when your bank offers incentives to attract new customers? The cable company? Cell company? Gym? This doesn’t effect you at all. Where was the outrage over the $10 sales?
