After playing the new content in its patch-adjusted form for over a day now, I think I can safely say that the changes both to the Elite Specialization requirements and to the Maguuma Jungle — particularly as regards certain Hero Challenges — constitute a good step in the right direction, but I’d suggest that the developers could make a few more tweaks to really satisfy the issues raised.
After all, Guild Wars 2 is a game, I declare, made for a casual approach, which means, I now propose, that anyone who doesn’t have the time or inclination to work toward an in-game goal should still be able to realize that goal, and very quickly at that. If someone who puts in more time and effort than I do is able to achieve more, it’s not fair. My participation trophy should be just as big and shiny as the champion’s. Plainly, we all paid for this expansion, and that means that we expect to have everything it offers delivered immediately, not hidden behind some kind of trywall. Why should there be any delay or input getting in the way of our gratification? And we will only be gratified by victory with ease and disproportionate reward.
In this vein, I would offer several more points of feedback based on gameplay:
- There remain several Hero Challenges that expect me to have completed one or more of the Mastery tracks, but that means I have to work — i.e., play the game — before I get my dessert. Correct this in all existing Hero Challenges.
- A lot of events are difficult and seem to require multiple people. I view the Living World as an extension of my Personal Story, which means I should be able to complete everything personally. Having to reach outside my bitter, paranoid shell to coordinate with other human beings isn’t playing the game the way I want to play it. Tune down all Champions, Elites, and Veterans.
- Sometimes, I push 1 and the mob doesn’t die. I don’t have the time or inclination to learn how my abilities work or grind at killing something. Please reduce enemy health.
- Additionally, sometimes an enemy will hit my character and do a lot of damage — sometimes even killing my character. This makes it take more time to complete stuff and worse yet hurts my feelings. Dodging is for PvP! Please remove enemies’ causing damage.
- I guess I’m saying make everything an ambient creature.
- I know the 10-person raid content hasn’t been released yet, but I can already tell you that the encounters are way too hard. I don’t want to have to learn fights or work with others, because I don’t want to risk losing. I can’t stand that.
- In fact, go ahead and just make the raid a hallway with a series of unlocked treasure chests. Make sure the loot is very good.
Thank you for reviewing my constructive feedback under threat of tantrum. Let’s go ahead and get these changes implemented as soon as possible, so that we can blow through everything and turn our attention to the lack of content. Thanks.
