Future Specializations
I’m already assuming they may have plans for certain future Elite Specialization to be focused on current weapons the Professions can use but they may have those Elite Specializations give those certain weapon new skill sets for that specific weapon.
I’d rather they create new weapon types instead of giving old weapons new skills for certain Elite specs.
A Whip, GreatAxe, Spear (of the land variety) or any other type of new weapon would be far more interesting. Both froma cosmetic and skills point of view.

+1 for whip.
Though, if the game endures long enough, warriors are going to get very mystical with focus or scepter, or take tiny versions of their current weapons: dagger and shortbow.
Most other classes have a lot of room to grow, and there are still some very unloved weapons, like rifle. Thieves were hoping for Sniper, Guardian could actually get “Dragoon” without copying a certain franchise, and Rangers could get a real hunting weapon.

I want both. One future elite spec that alters the way a certain weapon(s) are used and another one that has adds a unique weapon (such as a Great Axe or Lance) to a class that other professions will never be able to access. Greedy to want both, I know.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
GW2 needs Whips/Chain Sickles, Halberds, Gauntlets/Claws, Greataxes, Crossbows, Tessens, Long Shields, Boomerangs/Shurikens
Warriors will never get such unfitting weapons like Scepter or Focus, they aren’t scholars, nor will they likely ever get Shortbow or Dagger.
It is much more likely that the Warrior will be the constant class, which will add with each new Elite Specialization from now on a new Weapon Type.
Would be alot more better used potional to give from now on the Warrior just new Weapons.
Warrior + Long Shield + Minions = Legionnaire > Chaos Legion x Dragons Dogma Style Gameplay Mix
Warrior + Greataxe + Strategies = Gladiator
Warrior + Halberd + Mount (Pet) = Knight
Warrior + Gauntlets + Roars = Brawler
That way would the circle of Warrior be = Berserker > Legionnaire > Gladiator > Knight > Brawler
complete with GW2’s E-Specs being based on maximum 5 E-Specs per Class.
Warrior is good already in Melee and Ranged Combat. Good, Rifle could need a rebalancing to be a better competition to Longbow, but as far as that goes, its already good.
What the Warrior lacks are some Mid Range Weapons and thats where I thing Greataxe and harberd should be put in, while Long Shield becomes a defensive Weapon and Gauntlet becomes a Fast Melee Hybrid, cause thats something the Warrior hasn’t yet. The Sword is already near that, but would be slower but more powerful. Gauntlet weould justz set focus on other conditions, cause Sword is all about Bleeding and Torment. Gauntlet would be more about Weakness, Vulnerability and Confusion
Thats the kind of stuff that i’d expect for Warrior in the future

new weapons would be good, I know there are a lot of thieves out there that want that rifle. Besides wouldn’t it be sweet if at some point down the road you had access to every weapon on every character ? Balance wise is might be a nightmare but if they rolled them out slowly (not to slowly though anet) I think they could get the balancing figured out.
Some new classes would be awesome as well, fingers crossed to see the dervish at some point in the future.

I’m with you on this would love focus on both.
I main an ele, and while the tempest is ok it is not exactly what I was hoping for.
there are so many weapon types that could be added as others have stated
I could see the bladed fan as a new weapon for the elementalist: storm dancer
Warrior with a spiked fist weapon: pit fighter
Thief with whip: (thinking catwoman here lol)
Guardian with spear: (we have dragon hunter) Dragon Knight or Eldritch Knight
Mesmer with ? : ?
Necromancer with an actual scythe: Shade – able to summon only 1 minion out of 3 (melee, ranged, healerish)
Ranger with chakram: ?
Engineer with ?: ?
Revenant with great axe: ?
And for a new class we’ll go light armor, The Psion using telepathy and psychokinesis.
Monks will be next job class? So maybe this time they will know kungkitten That means the next weapon might be gauntlets. Spears might make a comeback as well, both as ranged weapons and melee weapons, so now we have Dragonhunters, maybe we will have Dragoons next?
This is just wishful thinking because I’m a big fan of the dragoon job class in Final Fantasy haha. Gauntlets on elementalists could become Battlemages where they combine elements to form new spells. One element in each hand and combine it like a kittening Invoker in some other game, or Magicka, or even Naruto. It will be an alternative to the close range dagger/dagger (or dagger/focus). What about spear on warrior? They did use spear to build up adrenaline in GW1 lol. Maybe Headhunter perhaps if tribal theme, or maybe Godspear or Lancer of the Gods or even Sunspear if Elonian theme? Necromancers with gauntlets will get their touch skills back lol. As for engineers with gauntlets, well… pic related? lol
Yes that in my opinion would have been the correct way of making “new specializations”. Right now they are not only lackluster but also give you an impression of “been here done that”…because u use already existing weapon types.
I completely agree….but it’s too late. They chose the lazy way out by just giving classes already existing weapon types.
Warrior + Gauntlets + Roars = Brawler
this is what im waiting and of course the one time change display name per account.
Thief:
Trickster-taking this spec would give new skill sets to sword and dagger. (was thinking something similar to nightcrawler from X-men)
thief already have specialisation named that…
ah wait its “Trickery”
but then again – considering we have already specialisation of “trickery” getting elite specialisation of “trickster” sounds irratinal – its like just giving out upgraded version of already existing spec…..

Sry but this isn’t a reason since we know the elite spec of necromancer is reaper.
Soul Reaping – Reaper
That’s the same thing like trickery and trickster. ^^
