Heart of Thorns is an amazing piece of work, a sincere thank you and congratulations Anet on your work of sheer excellence!

Your exciting addition of Legendary armour notwithstanding, I’ve but one ardent request for your future expansions— they need to come with a great deal more to the armour wardrobe. I am explicitly excluding outfits here.

The initial release saw an admirable collection in overall quantity of armour, however many pieces are now badly showing their age, with many looking drab and similar.

Previous suggestions from many forum-goers include a mirrored shoulder armour feature and dyeable weapons, and while these would certainly add some much-needed spice, I feel there needs to be a serious push in the release of core armour sets.

I have to agree. I was very very disappointed with the amount of new armor skins available
I would love dyable weapons but I dont think that we would ever get that.

The game went F2P before HoT and HoT was designed with that model in mind. You may have paid $50-100 but they’ve released more skins day one than new lootable skins. By new lootable skins I mean the classic drop from monsters both standard mobs and bosses. Spend $50 only to be reminded you need to buy skins if you want anything decent or grind for a 100 hours just to get something merely cosmetic without and substantial value.

Heck the only reward worth anything in the game is Modrem Saber and good luck with that as even though it was well near 900g on the TP no one wants the thing and thus it’s price has plummeted down near 700g and will continue to plummet as more and more people manage to farm the thing and chuck it on the TP.

Even if it was ugly and generic I would have at least preferred they added an armor set for light/med/heavy that dropped as loot from mobs as this is the first expac I’ve ever played where I don’t see the point of loot.

As long as they fire the médium armor designer, that person seems to have some sort of fetish with trenchcoats

My personal opinion:

They need to either tune down the glossiness of some of the newer armor, or ‘normalize’ it a bit.

It’s headache inducing trying to mix and match pieces of armor sets when one piece is notably ‘shinier’ than another.

As a good example, look at the Heavy Carapace set. Bits and pieces can look really good, however the glossiness of the armor makes it very difficult to match with something that existed beforehand.

Some of the new armor falls into this category as well (pieces of Bladed, Guild, Mistward).

Coming from someone who has easily spent weeks worth messing around with both dyes and armor pieces to create cohesive and unique appearances, it bugs me when I see something so… clashing.

LOL, Tora. For sure.
I’ve always felt sick of seeing the same armor in the preview screen…. Like, from Beta. My husband has more of a tolerance for limited selection than I do – as long as there’s ONE piece for each slot that he likes.

I’d like to add to your request by requesting all armor of the same type accept dye equally. Some items just suck at taking dye. They look kittenty no matter what color you use because their shading is just crap. This is especially noticeable in cloth and leather. Much of the plate looks beautiful.

PS – we don’t need any more hole-ridden skirts for any armor class. Thanks.

Agreed, fashion wars 2 needs more fashion. Outfits don’t let you pick what pieces you like and exclude ones that you don’t. My personal opinion is still that they should remove armor weight classification from the skins of armor and just keeps the statistics the specific professions.

I would have understood the lack of armor in HoT as a production time limitation, but the amount of gem store items that came out directly afterward paints a pretty obvious picture of where the effort has gone.

They obviously had the art budget to do more armor, but in stead chose to spend it making more outfits, skins, and weapons for the gem store to squeeze HoT purchasers for even more money.

This is not a good way to conduct business. If you’re selling a 50 dollar expansion, maybe lay off the gem store for a few months and direct that art budget in to adding rewards in to the expansion’s content

It’s pretty obvious that you designed mistward heavy and light, then said “well we could design medium mistward, or two sets of gem store skins” and went for the skins, then said “you know what? Lets just make the light mistward a gem store skin since we ran out of time to make medium”

If its a question of cost for racial conversions, why not just add more racial sets? I don’t think anyone would particularly care as long as there was an equal amount for everyone.
