GUIDE: How to survive the jungle!
1. Get in blob.
2. Run with blob
3. Die at beginning of each fight and lay there.
4. Ask for rez when fight is over.
Repeat for 3 months.

If that is how you play the game I feel sorry for you.
I can see why you said don’t use full zerk on an ele, but I’m not having any trouble on a ranger since I start with more health and toughness. It’s important to have a ranged weapon on swap though, many of the enemies have some strong anti-melee defenses like those hylek that drop poison fields at their feet. And on that note, I’d add take “condi removal” to your list.
Edit: I was unclear, I realize you said “if you’re having trouble”, I just think zerk is not the problem but rather being in ranged at the wrong time or being in melee at the wrong time.

I’m also an elementalist main and I’m starting to understand what OP is saying. Full zerker meta is getting me killed. I’m plenty capable of dodging and do well at it, but the jungle is full of things that have new tricks.
I’m looking at changing to full celestial or mixing in some minstrel/soldier stats.

Not me, but roughly 75% of the people I’ve been playing with over the last couple days.
Zerk is not the problem Being bad in zerk is the problem.
Some of these people haven’t dodged in two years.
Although I agree with OP, I am running Cleric/Zealot mix on my Rev.

i just dropped all my ascended zerker armour into the forge with marauder insignias… the same with my staff… i lost about 100 power, but gained about 100 precision and 300 vitality. sure, my damage is slightly less, but going from 12k health to 15k has made a huge difference for me. i’m even considering to master all of HoT part 1 story to earn all the ascended marauder trinketts…
and yes, the change to pets definitely makes it worth taking the the glyphs of elementals.
Make sure you grind these maps hard ASAP. These zones will be empty, some already are, in a few weeks. Get your stuff done now.
I’d LOVE to get toughness and vitality gear, but I refuse to change my ascended gear since it will destroy my hard earned infusions and runes!!!
I am not a rich person. I played A LOT to get 70 AR & Scholar runes on my light zerker ele gear. I simply cannot waste so much time and effort. I’d rather buy exotic gear then with defensive runes but even for that I do not have the money…
This expansion has rendered my gear useless and there is little I can do now that Dungeon provide little to no monetary income. I honestly feel useless.
Zerk is fine in the jungle. I haven’t had any issues with it and I’m a pretty average-skilled player.

These maps will never be empty. This is the new Orr.

And Orr was a ghost land as soon as karma farm died.
I have held off getting ascended gear for some time. I just never saw the need for such expense when my exotics worked just fine. From what I can tell, it still is decent as long as you are aware of your surroundings and watch where you run.
I like the fact that I can sneak by things (I’ve practiced this on my Ranger) with great success. Then I use speed to run out of their tether range to my objective. Granted, its not the most elegant solution, but I play rather more strategically and rarely just run through things without thinking of other options first.
But my Ranger is in full Knight’s Sneakthief gear of the Ranger with 6-runes of the Ranger and so far so good. Mixture of Pwr/Prec/Toughness & Ferocity seems to be working quite well at this point.
I plan on adding Celestial jewelry as I can afford it to round out my stats.

As long as this is the best solution, it’s not possible for everyone.
And when you are solo people are running arround in every corner of the map, (which are huge) and that verticality doesn’t help on grouping. So yeah people are doing story/other things but as soon as they are done they will get together and it will be easier to actually play on these map (few weeks at most).
