Hey Guys and Gals,

I have been away from GW2 for a while. I would like to take a dip back here but was wondering how the game is now with regards to Open World Events. What I am mainly interested in is hopping on from time to time and playing any open world events (like fighting world bosses, etc.). I honestly have little time to join a guild and focus on parties, raids, etc. That is the main reason I stepped away from a game like WoW.

I did like R.I.F.T (because of their open world events .. rifts) but was not impressed by how they implemented their Soul System and Classes and walked away from the game.

I am currently not an owner for HoT but can easily purchase it if it satisfies what I want from the game. I do have the original GW2.

Thanks in advance!

I regards to world bosses, they’ve always been pretty big. However I feel there’s only a select few which are interesting. Claw of jormag, tequatl, triple trouble, and shatter are pretty fun, the rest are sort of blown up because of the number of people who show up to them. Heart of thorns meta events are pretty fun, although challenging for a few. However, it seems like you’re familiar with mmos in general and will be fine. The quest lines are actually pretty cute if you look at them outside of an objective view. For example there’s a skritt that falls in love with an exalted in aric basin and try your best to help her piece him back together so he’ll love her. HOTS is full of events and action, but it’s limited to about 3 maps currently. However I’d argue they’re the size of 6 general core tyria maps. I’d suggest using the LFG tool if you plan on trying to do any big events. For core tyria there’s SW which is always active and world boss train. None of these require a guild, but being part of one wouldn’t hurt.
