Once the game is lunched will experience gained from playing the core game also help with our masteries experience? or will it stay like the beta, and we can only gain it in HoT?

Yes.

There are two kinds of Masteries when HoT is released.

One for the current areas, such as Fractal Mastery, Pact Commander Mastery and Precursor Hunter Masteries. These you can get experience for by playing the current maps.

Then there is another set, such as Gliding and those thingies, for the expansion areas, which can be leveled up by playing in the expansion areas.

Experience gained in the core game will advance the core-game masteries.

Masteries are separated into Core Tyria and HoT. Some masteries can only be levelled (by experience) in the base maps of gw2 while others (like gliding) only in HoT. When you reach level 80 after HoT releases you have an level bar anymore, it’s replaced by the mastery experience bar, no matter where you are

Sorry both these answers are still not clear to me. So what your both saying, is the experience I gain in both the core game and HoT is split? I should have said I’m only talking about level 80 characters too.
