But that’s an incorrect point, because I have been “playing the game normally” for three years now, and I still don’t have full ascended on even one of my characters. It would be possible for me to get it, but that would come at an expense, it certainly wouldn’t just happen out of nowhere as you seem to believe.

So you do have a problem crafting ascended. Thank you for admitting it now after quite a few pages. Ok let’s settle the problem to teach you how to get ascended. Hm maybe if you ask nicely.

A few months? What planet are you living on?

Hm earth? Another pointless hypothetical question. Of course just look at your own stockpile of mats.

Look, players who are not willing to invest into best in slot gear as (promised by ArenaNet all along)will be behind. You agree then the problem is not the cost for long time player but rather you’re not willing to do what it takes to gear up and instead wearing trash – as you said it yourself – which is actually a betrayal to whatever party/team/squad they are joining because they intentionally undergear themselves and not bring their best.

That’s not a problem either, if you just buy Damask pre-made and don’t consider money a problem, but money IS a problem, or rather not having enough of it.

If you are buying Bolt of Damask from TP then you are rich as kitten or dumb.
Smart people buy simple mats which cost a lot less and refine them.

I returned to game this July (after not playing for 2 years) and by the end of it I already had my first light ascended set. Then I made heavy ascended set for my warrior.
All you need to have is patience.

/Sigh, please read first, then post. I do not have a problem, personally, in acquiring Ascended armor. I have stated that repeatedly, and meant it each time. I do not have full ascended armor, because I have not chosen to have it, but it is something I could have if I chose it without any real difficulty. All it would take for me to get my main full ascended at this point is to convert a few of my mats around and press go, it’s not a big deal, but I am not representative of the average GW2 player, nor are you, from what you’ve indicated about yourself.

You agree then the problem is not the cost for long time player but rather you’re not willing to do what it takes to gear up and instead wearing trash

No. That would be my issue with ascended armor, yes, I believe that the cost is way too high for the added value it offers, but I do not presume to believe that my concerns are everyone’s concerns. For plenty of players, they do have a problem coming up with the raw currency needed to create the armor. Those players do not have the choice, they simply cannot do it at this time.

If you are buying Bolt of Damask from TP then you are rich as kitten or dumb.

Which is my point. At the end of the day it all comes down to money. Almost everything that goes into making Ascended armor is either something that you bought with gold or could have sold for gold, so it never comes without expense to you. the amount of money necessary to make ascended armor (or that could have been spent elsewhere) is far too much to ever consider Ascended armor as something every player should have on even one of their characters, much less on multiple characters, and/or with multiple different stat builds to allow for variety and adaptability.

I crafted my full set of ascended with not so much money lol, some of the pieces I found while playing the game and others I crafted while playing the game. I’ve nvr gone out of my way to farm gold specifically to craft ascended. I just craft 1 bolt of damask Everyday and continue playing other content.
But seriously speaking there is no real difference between ascended and exotics, as someone who recently switched over the numbers are practically almost the same. The 2 food consumables that you can eat to boost your desired stats boost your stats way more than what ascended does lol. If you don’t even usually eat the 2 consumables when doing content I don’t think you will notice any difference when you equip ascended.
At the end of the day just take ascended as a very expensive permanent consumable that doesn’t even do as well as the real consumables, it’s your choice to get it but if you don’t you won’t feel the difference.
The only reason why I got my ascended is because I wanted to do high lvl fractals and I needed the ar. If raids don’t require ar I wouldn’t even think twice about doing it in exotics just because it’s such a small stat diff. Just pretend you forgot to eat your consumables if you run raids in exotics.

Sure. As we have demonstrated that if they are new players, it takes them about 3-4 months to get ascended if they are really that slow. 1 month if they are fast. For long time players, they should have more than the needed mats. If they haven’t already, it should take them less than time than that of a new players, i.e., 1-2 months if they are slow, 2 weeks if they are fast.

You played all this three years and don’t have ascended.
I returned to the game and got it in less than month.
Because I wanted it.

It’s not the game’s fault. It’s your unwillingness.

If PuG request ascended from you then you need to meet their requirements or make your own lfg with ponys and stuff.

You keep trying to diminish players that don’t have ascended. You insist on portraying them as “new” or in “needing to learn to play” better. Why do you do this? Why do you not except that you can be a fully established and knowledgeable player, and not have Ascended armor?

because if you’re established, you can afford it. If you’re knowledgable you know that it’s better than the exotics you bought when you hit 80 and you should probably be working on it.

The only excuse not to go after ascended really is just plain stubborn adherance to a definition of “top tier” that ended in 2012. Nobody that started playing after that point even bats an eye at ascended, and most are happy it’s a crafting thing they can do by playing whatever in stead of some super-rare drop they have to farm a specific dungeon over and over for.

OMG i cant anymore im laughing so hard right now about all this “need ascendent” talk i have a friend he is one of those lfg 15k ap full zerk ping gear type guys, me i am a 4k ap just full exotics type guy.

We both have a Warrior he challenged me to do a small dps test on orr giant he in full ascendent gear im in exotics i won that thest 3 times. Now what i want to say with that is that it has alot to do how a player can play his class and that matters alot too, but the gw2 pve scene is so stuck up with their elitism and their dumb kitten ap score its rediculous.

If you read the thread it’s actually the guy in exotic talking bad about himself saying how he will lose out because of ascended .The people in ascended are all saying you can still do raids in exotics it doesn’t matter. Pls read thread before you judge.

Highly recommended, yes. Needed, no. For example the Vale Guardian on the beta was killed with plenty of time left on berserk with a sub-optimal group. I figure it was mathematically doable in greens.

But of course everyone should try to get full ascended ASAP if they want to raid, and guilds serious about raiding should make sure their members have it.

I’m just pointing out it isn’t a stiff requirement unless you find you are constantly wiping on berserk with the boss on 3%, for example. And only having members with 7/12 slots ascended or whatever is no excuse not to start giving the raids a try because for some time you’ll be wiping because of play and not gear.

I merely break these players into two category either 1. They are new, or 2. They are not new. I addressed both cases. Read before posting.

Oh look another Ohoni troll thread where he takes quotes from the devs out of context and demands things be the way he wants them.
