Noted that i have not played this game for a while, but with the news of an expansion it got me rather exited, although seeing that is cost money got me worried, not that i mind pay for the expansion but more that with the gem store items such as transmutation being very important to people who like customizing their characters, i’m am thinking that making items like this available without payment in a manner similar to world of warcraft. again i have not played since early last year i would like to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions.
You can get massive amounts of transmutation charges completely free by either doing map completion (the cities give them I believe) or doing WvW (all the Reward Tracks gives quite a few).
Transmutation charges: Each time you 100% a city, it gives you one. You can always buy a character slot with gold earned, make and delete chars for this. You also get 3 T charges every 28 login days. In addition you can buy T charges from the gem store with gold.
You get transmutations from completing regular zones as well. I saved all my pre-patch transmutation crystals anyway so I got 200 charges or something lol.
I really dont understand what peoples problem with the GW2 cashshop is. Its great compared to most other games. If you want transmutation charges so bad then spend gold on it. Not gems, gold. People are already spending 2000+ gold on almost look alone (well its ascended at least… now). Why should spending 50 gold on looks be a problem?! You can probably get 10 transmutation charges for the cost of one T3 armor piece… transmuting such a thing shouldnt really be that problematic :/
The guildwars model has to have micro-transactions since it has no sub. Something has to keep the servers running. I think people might have gotten bogged down by the transmute thing, but ultimately the cash shop isn’t that big a deal. It’s mostly vanity stuff, which is going to be in every game, and some silly convenience stuff associated with crafting. I think they might also sell xp boosts. It’s not pay to win or even necessary. It’s just fun stuff so that the company can make some money.
