Except for the gated ones, contested WP’s, blocked paths, unavailable during certain parts of the meta event of course.

The ***revised*** Dulfy video guides for the Hero Points were a great help. I was able to earn enough hero points to completely unlock the elite skills in several hours. So far I unlocked two elite tracks for a pair of my 80s. A lot of the HP points can be soloed so just keep an eye out for groups or shout out for help in map chat.
People sometimes do Hero point trains. There is a one at 30 minutes after reset for the next few days for the NA servers. If you can get in on that you’ll get most (not all) of the hero points in 3 maps.

You can get the HPs done without ever setting foot in a HoT map if you do WvW. It may not be as fast, but you don’t -have- to PvE.
If you mean you want only to sPvP, well, you already have the elites unlocked there and don’t need the HPs.

A fair point. Then again there are PvP skins I want (at least the Glorious Light helm) but it’ll be a long time if ever before I get them given how little I like to PvP. Even the nice no-fighting custom arenas don’t get me engaged unless a friend drags me in.
It would be nice if the holiday pvp like Snowball Mayhem offered track advancement, but I guess PvPers would prefer their opponents to actually know the stronghold/conquest maps to an extent commensurate with their rank.
My routine is: do the story first. After story, do all 7 HPs in VB. After VB, do all 6 or w/e HPs in DS. After DS, do 4-ish in AB, people usually come to mushroom king and then the rotten bacon. After that, do a few in TD, the soloable ones. TADAAAAAAA specialization complete. 1 HoT map complete. Story for the specialization complete.
This elite specialization, getting the hero points, Is getting darned frustrating.
Sadly game is really starting to be non casual grind all hero points to get all full specialization.Hero point prices for elite specializations are just horrendous you actually need to explore all Tyria and rewards for that are not really that interesting perhaps map items should be scaled to char level? And what do with experience at level 80 with no mastery points to use?
Second problem when you get character to level 80 end content is just do “story” to unlock masteries to account do season 1, 2 and hot content. Game is nowadays forced content, to advance you need these achievements…
Once doing dailies was rewarding getting experience gave you benefits. Now its just hard grind to get all mastery points dailies are unrewarding. Wow was ruined due achi system sadly this game is heading same direction.

Kubishai, agreed. I spend hours running around looking for the way to get to Heroes. I have many of the north points in Heart of Thorns, so the hero trains don’t work for me. Now I’m south, and it’s worse down here.
There should be more ways for casual players to earn those points, besides PvP or WvW that is.

A few hours in WvW got me all the hero points I needed for my two mains. Now I can play the expansion with the Elite specs.

yep, now that my mains are complete i have more than enough coins to transfer over onto other characters and buy more hero points with! Oh wait.

Yeah, that decision by Anet passed me off. My mains have nine spare coins my mesmer could use. Anet made this expansion very anti alt.

When you level up in WvW, you get chests. They give random amount of Proof of Heroics. Those are used on NPCs called Heroics Notary. They will take Proof of Heroics and use them to automatically complete a HP challenge randomly out of the ones you haven’t done around the world.

I find mastery points harder to get than the Hero points but am in no rush to get them and those ARE account wide.
I ran all my 12 toons through to get enough for the elite specs. This from the ones played most only needing a few extra to get full specialization to a couple taken to 80 with tomes who had no hero points at all off the maps. Once you do it a few times it second nature and takes just a few hours.
