I have been playing gw2 since launch. When the expansion launched I couldn’t afford it because of time and money. Now, I can do that. But, I don’t have a credit card, so my question is, can I buy a physical copy of HoT and somehow upgrade my existing account to HoT?

Yes you can buy a physical copy and add the serial code it contains to your account. Here are the instructions:

You don’t even have to update your game using the physical discs if you have been playing the core game because HOT will already be up to date.
