Gift of Explorer
Hmm, interesting notion. I imagine full exploration of the HoT map will yield a different reward other than gift of exploration. It would be kind of mean for ArenaNet to add the HoT zones to the world completion count.
Yeah, basically i’m wondering as I’ve used my two for legendaries already. I realllly don’t have time nor want to redo map completion for new specialization legendaries. Yes I am lazy.

Sounds like a personal problem, not a problem with the game’s design. I get that you want more rewards for less effort, but that just isn’t going to happen. You know what you have to do. It’s not hard. Do one zone a day, or even just a few hearts/POIs/waypoints/vistas a day. It takes time, but it cna be done. I’ve done it on two characters so far and almost a third (very casually of course with no real rush or goal in mind).
if it is required for the new legends, then i could see them adding it as a second objective for completion (similar to the way the cartographer titles worked in GW1) that will give 1 gift. They could also add it to the laurel vendor for X cost (laurels, coins, karma, etc) after completing the maps. They might make it part of the mastery system somehow, which could be interesting

I’d rather not have more gifts of exploration personally. I have 20 unused gifts myself and I know other folks who have as many or more than me. Map completion isn’t hard and if the rumor is true you won’t even need WvW maps for completion after the expansion comes out so mapping will be even easier than now.
I hope that with HoT mapping all of the new zones completely will give mastery points or whatever we’ll need for the mastery system. Right now there’s no reason for me to get that last POI in Southsun/Dry Top/Silverwastes.

Never stated as a problem with design of the game. Surely there will be reward for completion, there would be no less effort in completing new content for ‘rewards’ simply was asking if it would be or has been stated as a new progressional choice along with the new legendary and new crafting of precursors. With the addition of both and new weapon sets for specializations, surely there would be an offset of not needing to make a new character for sole purpose of map completion if say someone already used their 8 slots and have all legendaries in the game, and they release new legendary skins.

I understand, and as I said it is likely that HoT map completion will offer a different reward for that very reason. Those players who happen to have world completion on all their characters would be seriously disadvantaged otherwise.

How would they be disadvantaged. It’d be nothing more than just how 1 character who has done completion so far will get the same mastery points as per someone who has done it across 20 characters. It’d be based on new area’s, not old area’s.

Errm, nope im sorry but having to complete all original zones on top of new areas brought by the expac is asking way too much grinding from the player and would deviate away from solving grinding legendary fatigue, thats just too much and most likely wont happen.
Depending on how large the new areas are, completing HoT maps might just give another Gift of Exploration, so long as it’s not significantly easier to complete. Of course, this question is also partially dependent on what will be needed for the new legendary items. As the means to acquire the precursors will be radically different, perhaps the recipes will be different from the already established ones.
Yeah, it is probably just way early to speculate.
I didn’t mean to write it where it sounded like adding the maps to the existing ‘acheivement’, rather it being added as a secondary. Like all current maps = 1, all new maps = 2. Would still get the 2 current gifts as it is now, and like getting a third after completing HoT maps. Or just 1 for completing HoM maps.
This was assuming that crafting legendary would be similar to what it already is game. Which as they add in precursor crafting could be entirely different.
