Are you allowed to gift the expansion to a friend, in-game aswell?
Would very much buy one for a friend of mine, since it’s his birthday next week.

You can pre-purchase an edition of Heart of Thorns, and send the Serial Key to your friend, who can then upgrade his/her account (or create a new account).

In game purchasing is exclusive to your account only. You will have to look at the authorized retailers and purchase the expansion then gift it to a friend.
