Hey, guys. I poked around the forums and tried to see if the checkout had anyway to gift my friend a copy of HoT, but I have not had any luck so I turn to the forums.

Is there a way to be able to gift a copy of HoT to a friend while it is on sale? I’d rather not have to ask him for his account info if I don’t have to.

You can buy through the GW2 webstore and then send them the game code you receive via email..

So they give me a game code in my e mail? I can’t remember how they did it when I bought it. I figured it would say something like “You’ve already purchased HoT” or something.

You definitely can, I’ve done it several times, including during this sale week, and gotten confirmation from the recipients that it worked for them. The main suggestion I have is to have a secure way of sending the code to the other person. As in an email that you verify goes to them, a PM on Discord or Enjin, or something similar. And do it when they can tell you right away that they received it and it worked. I have a paranoid worry the longer the code is out there unused the more likely it’ll get mislaid or hijacked.

I imagine the reason it sends you a new code even if you own HoT is that you might have or plan to get more than one account and they certainly don’t want to put any obstacles in the way of your spending money on their game
