So one of the new back skins released (attached) is a legendary fractal backpack. It’s super sexy, but it got me thinking. If they’re going to take the Fractal Capacitor and make it a legendary, my Mawdrey would also be a great candidate for Legendary status too!

Mawdrey is unique in how you had to travel all over Tyria to obtain her, she grows as you collect more stuffs, and could potentially grow even more (if you could give her legendary pots and waters ofc.)

What would a legendary Mawdrey even look like? I think it’d be really cool to explore that! What do you guys/gals think?

I wouldn’t be against it, that’s for sure. That way you’d have one backpack for sPvP, one for Fractals, one for general PvE and exploration, and if they’d find a way to make one for WvW as well, that’d make one for each kind of game type.

I guess it depends on how much other things is required for the sPvP/Fractal ones. Are they self-contained within the content they are advertised for, or do they branch out into the other game types as well, like current Legendary equipment?

Good idea, but if I have to go back into Dry Top, I may cry.

Or they might even have it that you have to visit certain places in the fractal instances to obtain certain items similar to how you had to explore to make Mawdrey. That would encourage people to choose fractal levels that have certain items they need. Would be a good way to get people to actually run island such as Cliffside which some people don’t like.
If they also just made a legendary back piece for general PVE that would reduce the incentive for people to obtain their back pieces through fractals and SPVP.

I sometimes still enter there because I am either/or stupid, a masochist or just can´t be dragged into PvP. It´s the worst map in the whole of GW2 for me, closely followed by Straits of Devastation which would be awesome if it were not for that tiresome vista down in the right corner.

Anything I have to feed any mats I will be against. Aside from that, I want everything to be brand spanking new. Anet does enough rehashing.

Right? I mean, there’s no reason why Mawdrey would stop growing, is there? I mean, she might get flowers or something. Right now, she’s a glorified sprout/shoot.

Toxic Spore Back isn’t a traditional back at all it’s a floating spore that follows you around and thus sets a precedent. Why can’t a legendary Quaggan Backpack simply be a Quaggan that follows you around or a backpack that doubles as a Mini such as a progeny or young skritt riding piggy back on your shoulders.

The current existence of the Golem, Toxic, and that birdcage backpack means that all of these are completely plausible for legendary candidates.

How about a legendary Backpack that is actually a mini that auto loots for you :-)

Well, new mastery has that covered, but a mini Faerie that floats over your shoulder could be cool.

Possibly calling your attention to itself with an expressive ‘Hey’, when there is something nearby that it would like you to ‘Listen’ to its thoughts on.

Actually, a mini-backpack would be rather neat. Though it’d be a mini, sort of.. so.. it’s complicated? Maybe if it’d have some animations for jumping up on your shoulder when idle or something. Speaking of Miniatures, I still want a Miniature Me that is the player model (copies the exact model, Outfit and/or equipment used) and mimics everything you do in a miniaturized form.

Totally not! There was not much I did not like about OOT, but the HEY! LISTEN! Spam was definately one of them.

It was tested in our guild (during a roleplay session), having an asura “trying to” climb the back of a charr. The charr was not happy and the asura is now history… May he RIP.

Yes! Oh yes! I want a legendary Mawdrey! And not just for the stats either.

I use my Mawdrey backpack as a prop for RP. If a new version of Mawdrey came out, I would make it.

In the RP stories I’m part of, the mawdrey is an experimental pet owned by my Priory character, Lapis the Salad Shooter (in-game name: Lapis N Lazuli). He named the vine Sunshine, she lives in his engineering backpack and she fetches his tools (like grenades & wrenches). She is also a natural bloodstone detector and a good tool for teaching others about Mordrem.

I would hope the new version of Mawdrey would have more animation and colors. It would be really great if there were special emotes associated with the back piece (Okay, I realize that’s pushing it a bit too far, but a girl can dream!) I really like the auto loot idea that others have mentioned already.

I’m going to make a cosmetic suggestion for Legendary Mawdrey:

I would love to see a “Mawdrey in a bag” as a back piece. (See the screenshot below).

When the engineers used to have hobo sacks, sometimes a graphics glitch would occur and the sack would be layered on top of the Mawdrey backpiece. It made Mawdrey look as if she was living in the engineering backpack. That glitch inspired my RP idea.

It was a cute and funny glitch. I often took advantage of it for RP purposes. Today, I’m stuck writing out the information in say chat whenever I RP. Wah… ;_; I miss my “Mawdrey bag”.

Would also like to be able to take my Spinal Blade backpieces and upgrade them once more into Legendary status. Could make Mawdrey the “Season 2 Legendary Backpiece” and Spinal Blades the “Season 1 Legendary Backpiece” even.

Though the Spinal Blades isn’t so ‘travel all over’ – though nothing says the recipes can’t be altered – neither is the current state of the fractal backpieces. And let’s face it, getting all three colored Spinal Blades is a legendary feat compared to our current legendary weapons.

Fractal Capacitator, Spinal Blades, and Mawdrey are the only backpieces that you actually craft from low to high status (well, there’s the crafting backpieces but meh to those – they’re too simplistic to deserve legendary status).

That’s how it was in America too, until the early 1900s when the baby clothing/etc. companies decided to color code their products.

Pink was originally a color for boys because it was a “softer red”, with red being a color for men.

Similar to how nowadays people associate purple with either girls or pimps, but in the past it was the color of royalty.

The difference is that it would be a brand new skin that utilizes the current Mawdrey like a precursor. Like the model difference between the Mysterious Vine, Cultivated Vine, and Mawdrey.

If you still have it (even if you transmuted the skin), then you wouldn’t need to craft it again.

Would be cool. More vines with mushrooms or flowers or something.

You guys realize when Mawdrey gives in to the calling of Modremoth and turns on you it will not be pretty when a vine wraps around your neck.

well mawdrey also have its own will. And like silvary if it isn’t turn by now it won’t turn in HoT.

But I higly doubt we’ll get a leg mawdrey :’(

I actually made mawdrey because I thought it would keep evolving to this design with 4 or 6 vines growing out kind of like sclerite karka shell but much better looking. . Was sorely disappointed. But maybe they will let us upgrade it to legendary that would be sweet!

Awesome idea! Just like ascended weapons all have different colour schemes, Mawdrey could have different coloured flowers or aura to match different stats.
