Q:
Gliding with Wings
A:
They could just add a “hide glider” toggle and be done with it. I saw plenty of people with wings in the BWEs gliding for a few seconds before my client loaded the glider model and it looked pretty fine.

Probably the latter, but I think it would be cool if they give people with wing based backpieces special glider skins that correspond to them.
The wings are a bit ridiculous most of the time.
Why can’t we have simple capes/cloaks?!

Almost like Arena net hates money right?
OR
A more logical reason is that implementing capes is extremely difficult to implement.
Wings, which are backpiece skins, aren’t the same as gliding skins, so no, unless its bugged you’re not going to see backpieces instead of gliding skins. If they showed them, then all the other backpieces will show, including the ones like the Toy Stuffed Animal backpieces. Maybe ANet will make gliding skins as wings though.
ANet may give it to you.

They will be selling glider skins in the gemstore and (probably) having glider skins as ingame rewards, just like they have both now for backpieces, and there was a glider skin already with the mid and upper priced HoT purchases. Just wait. There will be plent of cool glider skins later on.

Guild Wars 1 had capes -.-
((Also build saving))
Wings looks quite horrible.
Can’t really see why people want them.

And it didn’t have non-human skeletons.
Wings work because of the huge split between the left and right sides.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

capes worked in gw1 due to the fact we could only play as a human race in gw2 we have charr and we all know if they made capes and a charr had one people would moan about the tail clipping through it

I’d say the tail isn’t the issue.
How to drape it over a hunchback is the issue…

I suggested this too some time ago, it would be awesome that people that manage to unlock both white feather and black wings to recived an achivement unlock for a wings themed glider

Tail clipping = make the cape shorter on charr.
Hunchback = the guild backpack has a small banner that flaps on it, that lays on the backpack just fine on charr, thus they CAN rig it to not clip through the charr’s hunch.
Really there is no reason to not have them in the game. They would look infinitely better than most of the back items we have cluttering our screens as it is.

If you mean the guild backpack with the flag…that does not look natural, in my opinion. That cape is perpendicular to the character’s back which is way easier to implement than a cape that is parallel. If you meant the guild bookbag, that back piece doesn’t move at all. It’s like having a baby karka stuck to your back XD. Anet, did say the problem with capes is all the clipping issues with various character models. A developer was working on capes in their free time but ran into the previously mention issues. If I had choose between HoT and capes, I would choose HoT.
