Goodbye Revenant!
No, my two gripes were fixed. staff damage and weapon swap.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
Never going to main a Rev as i have already made myself a main since day one. To main a Rev that means i need one name change contract and one total make over kit to swap my main’s idenity to Rev.
But yes, in some extend, Rev is not as interesting as the new elite spec to me.
I am very interested in melee staff, so I will either main Rev or Thief in HoT (current main is Engi, but I want melee and energy/initiative rather than cooldowns). We’ll see how Daredevil looks tomorrow. I like the mobility of thief but the versatility of Revenant, so I can’t decide yet…
Astaxanthas (Revenant), Hepaticus (Engineer), Eosinophus (Thief)
I’m sure a lot of us have 80’s of every profession so why not just give the Revenant a focus? Like build it for a particular game type and then it can be your “main” for that game type.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Mesmer has been and always will be my main. However I do have secondaries and tertiaries. My secondaries have been necro and engineer. Revenant will most likely get added to the list.
I have an 80 of every profession. So far, I haven’t seen one specialization where I’m like “OMG I gotta play that.” Maybe at first glace I felt that way, but not after playing them in beta. I think I’ll end up sticking with with current specs for most of my toons and maybe dabble with elites from time to time. There is still plenty of time to change my mind.
I’ve never played my 80 thief because I don’t care for the thief play style, so I’m hoping the Daredevil wins me over. It looks promising IMO.
Still not playing a class with 1/10th the customization choices of every vanilla class.
So when Revenant was data-mined/released, I fell in love with the class, and planned to main it once HoT came out, but after playing it in the beta and now seeing Berserker in action and the reveal of Daredevil, I think Revenant is going to have to go to the backburner for me.
I might still play one so that I can get that cool armor set for my Berserker Warrior; hopefully that armor isn’t too hard to get.
Anyone else had a similar experience thinking they were going to main Rev but are now doing an elite instead?
I don’t know what are you talking about … Condition revenant is more then EPIC in PVP and PVE. Mallyx and Shiro Legends makes you feel good
p.s.: my main is Thief and i also glad to see the changes that comes.
You are not alone most ppl play Warrior followed by Ele its mainly cause they allow for most mistakes. I like the look of Revenant but abit wierd that the defence/survive -mode didnt really come until Herald Elite Spez and not in the main 5 traitlines like with the other classes. And first now after Herald they made Jarlis/Dwarf abit more defence.
Servant of Dhuum
I wasn’t impressed with the Revenant until the Herald was revealed. It gives me everything I’ve wanted from a Guardian and justifies it’s place among my 4 mains. I’m now ignoring my Guardian for my future Revenant.
1. Fighter Archetype = Charr Daredevil
2. Thief Archetype = Sylvari Mesmer
3. Priest Archetype = Asura Herald
4. Mage Archetype = Norn Necromancer
Maybe if I wanted to play the Revenant as a more offensive profession I would be less satisfied but I’m going to have a lot of fun in PvE or WvW as a support character. Even though support is pretty useless I admit.
After being a main Guardian for 3 years, Dragonhunter made me change to Revenant.
I really enjoy Shiro and Mallyx and Jalis is decent as well except for 1 skill. Herald is okish while Ventari is not my thing. Defo like thief’s DD spec but oh well, can’t have everything Still pref Shiro over DD
Same, I still have to get used to the class, but I myself was underwhelmed by the class during beta weekend. I will max one of course, but first I will play with my Reaper :-)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
As an ele/mes main that’s played a lot of necro as well the past year, I decided when HoT comes out I want to play diff classes. I actually play every class, but 50 percent of my hours are between those two. I didn’t like Rev at all when I played it, but I didn’t try anything beyond power. I’m a sucker for hybrid builds these days and the berserker has all my attention to be honest
Still not playing a class with 1/10th the customization choices of every vanilla class.
I thought your number was exaggerated there but I did some rough calculations and the Revenant does indeed have about 9.09% of the customization as other classes. This does not include elite specs (that percentage actually goes down).
It’s interesting to see. One thing this doesn’t take into account is repeated combinations of utility skills, so the number might actually be more like 11%, but still insignificant.
